so it looks like they are following something close to this plan in 2013 for the Nexus 5 -

Nexus 4 Original Launch Plan

October 17, 2012 - Google sends out invites for an Oct 29 Android Event
October 29, 2012 - Nexus 4 Announced (Event Cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy)
November 13, 2012 - Nexus 4 Available For Sale

With zero info coming out as to when they
will or will not
schedule or not schedule
an event or no event
with some or no lead time before
Selling in the US or somewhere else first

How do you know which plan they are following?

Waiting for a ghost? When did Google announce this and what deadlines have they missed that were promised to the consumer?

lol this is exactly what I thought.

I am the OP of the thread and even I am not up in arms about anything because everything was just pure speculation. The lack of patience now-a-days is damn near sickening.

I bet Lisa also angrily waits for post cards from people she trolls on Facebook that travel regardless of whether or not they ever stated or even planned on sending her a post card. Calm down Lisa, calm the hell down.

well it's obvious they are not releasing it today - so that's new info. but in the end i'm speculating like everyone else.

Well... Apple just announced an event on the 22nd. So now the question becomes do they announce without an actual event BEFORE Apple or announce at an event AFTER Apple.

My guess is they'll send out invites right before the Apple event. Steal a bit of their thunder.

I think that's a pretty good guess. With such a significant release, they almost certainly will have an event. Such an event will require some planning and lead time, so we will almost certainly hear about an invite a few days before the event.

It's fun to speculate and look forward to new products. Keeps life interesting and it's part of the fun of new gadgets. It'll be here before we know it. And after it comes out, we'll be a little sad that there's one less thing to look forward to. So let's try to be patient and enjoy the speculation, hype and anticipation while it lasts.

I'm torn. They'd get more buzz if they announce at a big event at least a week after the invite so all the bloggers and press can have time to make arrangements. But that means they would have to announce after Apple next week. Whatcha gon' do, Goog?? Whatcha gon' do?

Wait a minute guys.. the release has got to be TODAY!!! Octobet 16? 4 * 4 = 16!! Plus exactly one year ago on october 16 2012, possible extrasolar planet Alpha Centauri Bb was discovered orbiting the K-type star Alpha Centauri B which is 4.4 light-years from Earth!! How could we have missed this?!
