Why is verizon meddling around with these piddly little updates? For all the effort put into the updates they might have had Froyo fixed and ready to push out. Why spend time updateing an OS that they know is going to be obsolete in a short time????

In terms of this update, they have no choice. The fact that the emergency dialer was broken breaks Federal laws on access to E911 services.

Anyone else having issues after this update? I got it this morning. When I plug my phone into the USB on my PC, my text msg sound no longer works. I have reboot, ensured settings were correct, etc. Thoughts?
I have an un-rooted Fascinate. The download and install was automatic. I now have FW 2.1-update1, Version S:i500.04. V.EA28, Kernel 2.6.29, Build # SCH-I500.EA28. After installing, I keep getting messages to keep updating. I have turned on WiFi and killed InnoPath ActiveCar service to stop it from reminding me again. Any ideas why this keeps trying to install after I already have the udpate?
USB connectivity is now completely non-functional for me. Vista says, "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." Does not show up on the Mac Finder at all.

On your Windows machine, I would delete the USB device and let Windows reinstall it. Then try and plug in the Fascinate again
You can also get the Samsung drivers from their website. (I would link you, but they use Flash on their site, which screws up URL copy/paste).
Update Issue or phone issue?
OK, I updated my phone and now I notice that if I even just BARELY touch the screen the soft keys at the bottom go out. Also, if I am scrolling though my apps of something, the soft key lights will flicker. It acts as if there is a short in a connection, but if this were true, then my shaking it violently should produce a similar effect as lightly touching the screen, but that is not the case. The only way I can get them to stay on like DL09 was supposed to make happen is if I go to the home screen and hit the back arrow. Then all is well. I was wondering if anyone else has seen a similar problem.

Has anyone else had problems rooting EA28? I was going to stick with DL09 but Verizon slipped it on while I was driving home (sneaky!), breaking root access. Now the one-click method won't work for me, and the mounting issues resurfaced, though it'll still let me access the microSD after some time. Any suggestions?
New update = more problems. My pc won't even recognize that my phone is plugged in?? And right before my screen times out, it flashes a couple of times and then blacks out. I'm stock and unrooted except for launcher pro.

I updated to ea28. Still can't mount by USB. I have tried everything suggested on here to no avail. Some people say the update fixed this issue for them, and for others like me it did not. I am still waiting for this issue to be fixed.

I was having the same problem....I finally found a method that worked for me after EA28 update:

ha so in fixing the emergency dial bug they apparently introduced another. Someone over on the verizon forums is reporting that hitting the emergency dial button and then hitting the home button takes you to an unlocked phone.

Despite the obvious foul-ups, it's nice to see that Verizon and Samsung are actually paying attention to and supporting the Fascinate, with 3-4 updates in the less than 5 months the phone's been on the market.
I recently updated to the ea28 version. I'm experiencing some battery issues. I routinely put the phone in airplane mode overnight to conserve battery and usually only 1-2 percent is drained over the course of the night. Since the update, I have occasionally seen a 30% drop overnight in airplane mode. After plugging it in, the battery will jump back up rather quickly. Any ideas? I've read in another forum about clearing the battery stats/cache. Is that possible on a non-rooted phone?

This refuses to work for me... Super One Click freezes on "Waiting for Device".

Has anyone experienced any battery issues? My girlfriend has not used her phone at all today. She took it off the charger at 7:30am no texts, no email, no nothing. Last night I disabled anything from updating and all apps are killed, and her phone was dead at 1:15pm. Any ideas or anyone else experiencing this issue?
Has anyone experienced the GPS being slow to lock on after the EA28 update? Used it last couple of days on my nightly walks (track my distance and speed) and it's taken at least 5-10 minutes to lock on. I had DL09 installed and did not want to do the update because my emergency call while screen locked worked just fine. Now with EA28, my GPS is slow to lock on again. Geez, can VZW and Sammy get it together with this phone? So pathetic. Any suggestions or fixes anyone has?
