Annoying ads

Anybody noticed an annoying trend when you download an app to get adverts on lock screen? Bar deleting app is their anything I can do in settings to stop it happening?

Any app that puts ads on the lock screen is crapware and or could allow other adware or malware.

Even wallpaper apps.

Stay with Play Store, not 1000% guarantee, or highly trusted 3rd party.

Run MalwareBytes, see what it turns up.

If an app is free and has no option to purchase an ad-free version, you're likely going to run into issues with ads. Avoid apps that don't have paid options. If the app is free, you're the product.

It's sometimes a struggle to find paid versions. I put ES file explorer on and low and behold ads on lock screen

ES is produced by Cheetah Mobile. A renowned shady app developer. Much better options out there.

I don't where you got that ES File Explorer is produced by Cheetah Mobile. It's produced by ES Global.

Did you download it from the Play store, or from another source? I had the free version for a while and NEVER had ads on the lock screen. I've since bought the Pro version.

I don't have ANY of those problems with ES File explorer. Neither the free version nor the paid for. I'm not in the UK, so that may be why.

Any recommendations on software other than malware bytes? I seem to have some sort of browser hijack that will sporadically open a pop up taking me to an Amazon cloudfront page. I already installed and ran malware bytes but it couldn't find anything.
