Recovering crackberry addict here, have had my Droid (Verizon) for about 3 days and deciding whether I want to keep it or go back to my blackberry...

First question, how do I change that annoying "DROID" notification sound?? I've gone to Settings>Sound & display >Notification Ringtone and changed it to "pizzicato" but now when I get a text message it just plays a combo of "DROID" and "Pizzicato" !! AGH!

Help!

Apologize if this answer is posted elsewhere, I only found a post for a different phone, followed those instructions and no changes...

I'm still getting both notification sounds...Maybe it's because I have both "Messaging" and "handsent sms" installed? I changed the notifications on both to something other than "Droid" sound.

Thats exactly why you're getting both notifications, if you're going to use handcent, turn the notifications off in your stock messaging app

Go to Notifications > Settings > Make sure the "Notifications" box is unchecked..

Now go to the main Settings and change the notification sound to something other than Droid so you don't get that same notification for emails as well..

Yeah it took me about 3 days until I was figuring out how to change it... then I changed it to the tweets, and three days later that had to go...

Ahh! I figured it out! I had ChompSMS installed too, forgot about it, oops. that's what had that dreadful sound.

Thank you all!!

Alright, I'll admit that it took me a few days to grow tired of the notification, especially when I had it set too loud and scared everyone around me...

the best is when your with a bunch of people and all of sudden you get a text and you hear "DROID" and somebody repeats it out loud. it happens every time to me

I wish someone would write a program that when it heard the "Droid" sound it would repeat so if you were in the store airport whatever and your phone went "droid" everyone elses would reply as well, that would be great.
