Annoying noise (SD card related?)

Iv'e looked around and haven't seen anything similar or in the FAQ, so I'm asking now. :)

Whenever I plug the DX into my computer, or turn it on or off, it makes a very annoying noise. I checked the ringers and the event tones and this sound doesn't exist in any of them. I would describe it as close to the "Digital Phone" sound but at a lower pitch.

When I hear the sound, it's usually saying "Preparing SD Card" up in the notification bar. I don't remember it always doing this; I've apparently done something to it in the past days to cause it, but heck if I can find where in the settings to shut it up.

Anybody know what I'm talking about? :)

Mine does it too, thats the noise used for mounting the SD card, so don't worry about it, it only happens on startup and when you unplug it from USB.(Off charge only)

Yeah but it drives me up a freakin' wall. I want to silence it. For me, it makes the noise whenever I turn on the phone, whenever I turn off the phone, whenever I plug it into USB, and whenever I disconnect it from USB. I see no need for that noise to even happen. It's stupid and pointless.

Hmm... I may have found something... under Sounds & Display, there's a setting I don't remember seeing before... SD card notifications. It was enabled. That appears to have silenced it.

Phew, I was ready to return the damn thing over that noise.

Yea just turn sound off. There is a setting for it. My motorola droid would say Droid
