This update, ATJ3, has the battery update as well as security updates?

No, it's an S update (security-only) rather than U. The release notes in Europe (U1ATJ1) mention battery improvements. The release notes in the US (S1ATJ3) only cite security enhancements (see https://doc.samsungmobile.com/SM-N986U1/TMB/doc.html).

I would guess that the reason for the difference is that the battery improvement only applies to Exynos devices.
