Go with your comfort level. If you feel safer using an antivirus then ignore the bickering children and use one. I'm currently using Norton. I've used AVG and AVAST in the past and liked them but decided Norton was the one. I use it on my PC as well so I went with what I knew.
Most of the top name antivirus apps have been refined so they aren't resource heavy anymore so that argument is moot. Call me old school but I believe better safe than sorry. I still use Advanced Task Killer as well. I've noticed that with out it I have huge battery drains so once again I protect my comfort level.
