Any advantage to changing plan via web, phone or in person?

I've got an existing more everything (2 gb data) contract plan for one phone with about a year left on it. I'm going to add 4 more lines to it (buying phones for some of them) and go to the new non-contract plan (probably the 3 gb date one -- we don't use much).

The one slightly complicating factor is that I want to get a Note 5 for one of the new lines, and then switch it (ESN switch before I activate it) on to the original line (which I've been told here wouldn't be a problem).

Of course I want to get whatever promotions are available when I do it (beginning of October when our Sprint contracts are up). Also, it is really unclear with the now "save up to $400" deal as to what kind of trade in phone is required -- any one know if an old Sprint Moto Photon 4G will get it for me? If not, I could use a Sprint Galaxy s4 if I have to.

Is there any advantage to doing this on the web, by phone or in person?

I prefer to do everything online.... So no csr tampers with things. They can mess things up.and probably less headache.

And I need to switch from a contract (with time left on it) to the new non-contract plan -- can that be handled on line too? Thanks.

Will I be able to do the phone swap online too?
You can do phone swap online.

As for postpaid to prepaid, I don't think that can be done online
