Any closer to getting ICS?

I finally gave up on the update and got a used Galaxy Nexus from a friend. Jellybean is a big step up from Gingerbread.
My phone messed that up sorry for the double post.

I'm also not holding my breath. Planning on upgrading the phone soon. Likely not with HTC...

Ya I bought the dinc2 because of its size. I don't care about getting updates late but this is enough to make me change my mind on future buying of phones. Verizon should offer a partial discount at one year into the contract and add one more year to the contract. But I bought this phone in march and will have to wait until march 2014 to upgrade. So ill either buy an iphone or nexus device but my carrier wont be verizon and it wont be a nexus device if HTC makes it.

The reason its taking so long is because of connectuon problems....

Got sick of my Dinc2 and the HTC/VZW LIES...Early Christmas present...BOGO @ Sprint...S3!!!!!!

Yup, fastest way to ICS is going to be... get a different phone! If you like this one, you'll like the Incredible 4G, which currently has ICS and is on the schedule to receive JB. Can be picked up barely-used for a couple hundred bucks! So far so good for me...

Probably moving to S3. HTC is dead to me.

I have a Dinc2 and I'm still stuck on Gingerbread :( It really sucks. I have no idea if it is HTC or Verizon that isn't moving forward but it is making me really annoyed... I can't even use Google Chrome!

I emailed HTC support and they basically said it is Verizon's fault... I don't believe that.

This is one more reason why I want an iPhone. I know I will probably be cursed for posting this on an Android forum, lol. But, you don't have two people that you have to get the update through. And, their updates are for all of their mobile devices, so they do not have to forget about old generations to focus on the new ones. Other smartphone manufacturers have so many phones to handle they end up dropping their old ones. If I get another Android phone, chances are it will be dropped in a few more iterations of Android OS. Ugh.

I actually agree with you. Apple definitely beats Android, at least non Nexus phones, with updates.

That's why I gave up on the update and bought a Galaxy Nexus.

I've never been one to side with Android or iPhone or Windows Phone. They're all manufacturers looking to take your money. They're all heartless thieves in my mind. But if there's one good thing to be said about any of them it's this: Apple is generally quite good at updating most of their devices simultaneously, which is a huge plus and a massive blow to the Android camp; Android is an excellent choice IF they can manage to stop fragmenting their userbase; and although Windows Phone is a late-comer, they're very innovative to say the least (it's just too bad it took getting kicked off the top spot to move their butts).

Although I'm using an Incredible 2 Global on Straight Talk at the moment (utilizing AT&T's towers), I'm seriously considering jumping ship from this disasterous sea of fragmentation and heading over to iPhone or Windows Phone 8. I mean seriously... enough is enough. If HTC/Verizon weren't so concerned with the latest and best phone sales (hardware for HTC, service for Verizon), maybe they'd take care of current/older customers instead of ignoring them. Not good business sense. Man... and I had such high hopes for Android...

Ya for me its apple or nexus. I will suffer through with this phone because it can perform all the basic functions I need and really don't like using a smartphone unless I have to due to screen size. However no updates and 32 unwanted apps courtesy of HTC and Verizon is more than enough of a reminder to not cave and pay full price for a crappy device.

I think you'll find windows 8 will be the same way since it's multiple manufacturers.

Apple is the only one who consistently updates because they only have one phone per year and they let no one utilize their operating system.
