Any confirmation on the Bionic's wireless charging battery cover?

Re: Any confirmation on the Bionic's wireless charging battery co

Yeah, I'm with ChevyNova, I bought the lapdock and I will most likely get the HD and car docks - I need to wait and let some of you other guys play guinea pig do some thoughtful reviews of inductive charging before I jump in. :)

I skipped the lapdock. With 25% off accessories for work, the inductive option was worth checking out. I guess I'll know next week! lol

Anyone know if the power mat will work. Same technology right? Should work.

Now i look after i post. It looks like there are several that are selling as powermats for bionic. I have the mat. Just have to get the case. No verizon store has them locally yet.

Powermat is not the same. Powermat does not use the Qi standard that the Bionic's inductive battery door uses. As of now you only have 2 options for the charging pad, the Verizon version or the Energizer Inductive pad.

Re: Any confirmation on the Bionic's wireless charging battery co

Just received my inductive back. It doesn’t add much bulk at all to the phone it basically flattens out the back of the phone so there is no 'dip' down on it. The downside of this is.. any form fitting case for the bionic will not work with this at all. So now I will have to go on the lookout for a new case to work with this back and give my other one to a friend (which sucks loved the case I had)

As stated the Power Mat chargers WILL NOT work with this as they do not have the Qi technology support. The only pads that support Qi on the market currently are the Energizer and VZW branded ones. I plan on using a Energizer 3 pole one at home and VZW single pole at work. Also this back WILL NOT support extended battery.

Any questions I’ll try to answer them and ill reply after I’ve tested the charging on it more.

Here are some pictures I took before I put the other back on:

Different technology between the powermat and the Qi standard. The only way to use the Bionic with the Powermat is to buy the adapter that you still have to plug into the phone's usb and sit the adaptor on the powermat.

You have two options to get inductive Qi charging on the Bionic. The verizon inductive charging mat or the energizer inductive charging mat. Both you will need the inductive charging door from verizon.

Sounds good. Well i have a powermat and i ordered the door so i guess of the door is too bulky i will return it. If i like it i will look at getting a pad that works
Thank you for your input

Re: Any confirmation on the Bionic's wireless charging battery co

Hmmm, anyone seen any cases compatible with the wireless back? Any silicone ones that will stretch over it perhaps?

Re: Any confirmation on the Bionic's wireless charging battery co

I had the inductive pad and back for my thunderbolt so when I got my bionic I decided I have to order the back for it too. The charging works very well and it is nice to just set the phone down to charge

Did you have powermat brand?
Also i wonder if it will go in the lapdock with the inductive back on it. I saw someone say it still fit with the extended battery so hoping it will fit.

Just forget about the Powermat brand, they use a dead tech right now. They signed up to be in the Qi, but haven't put a product out yet.

If the extended battery fits in the lapdock I'm willing to bet the smaller inductive door will.

Nope, I sent Seidio a tweet asking for it, they said they would pass the idea on to their product team. It would be great if others asked for the same thing to show interest.

I'm just afraid there just won't be enough users to warrant making a specific one for this.

Yeah that is my issue, I can't live without my cheap TPU cases.

Re: Any confirmation on the Bionic's wireless charging battery co

I went to VZW today and we tested a number of cases on the charger.

The rubberized ones work.. however they dont 100% fit they curl up on the side edges of the screen but still charge through it.

The 2 piece rubber/shell case will not work as it wont fit with the contour

The extended battery case/holster combo works and charges but its pretty bulky for my liking (this was the best one we tried as far as fit)

We did not try the Otterbox.. but looking at it Im thinking based on the others it *might* work. However again it wasnt tested.

So in short.. the only case VZW sells that seemed to work is the Extended battery cases.

Ok, I got the wireless cover. It works great even through the Verizon silicon sleeve. However, that sleeve no longer fits like the proverbial glove. It works on the top and bottom, but the sides bow out as the previous post mentioned.
There has to be some jelly/tpu/silicon sleeve that will stretch properly over the charging back. I wonder if the silicon one will stretch over time. LOL

Re: Any confirmation on the Bionic's wireless charging battery co

Wanted to pass the word along - I was just able to purchase 2 wireless charging pads and 1 inductive battery cover for the Droid Bionic for a total of $44.98 + tax with free 2nd day shipping.

Not sure how long it will work but its worth giving it a try.

May we ask how, special promo code or something? Its not priced that way on the site. Did you have to call in to get it? Did they say why it was so cheap?
