Any first time Android (HOX) users that switched from iPhone?

i used bluetooth to transfer 2-3 songs for ringtones from iTunes... but that's a very slow method to get your music from iTunes onto your phone. haha.

Figured out my pure calendar, touchdown issue I was talking about earlier in this thread. For anyone else that might run into this issue, turns out its a diffence in touchdown versions from the Play store and Amazon store. The Play store version works. Amazon store vision caused issues.

Much happier now!

First Android coming from ip4. So far great. Sure I'll miss something after I use it awhile. Anyone get insurance on this phone? I don't right now and normally skip it. Some articles I've read convince me not too. Not sure what to do.

I got the insurance from Best Buy, since they claim it isn't contract based. Meaning you can end it anytime you want. I figured I'd see how long I want to go with the $9 a month. Since I had early iPhones I got used to no insurance, just thought I'd play it safe for once. I'll give it a go for a bit, and see if I feel comfortable ditching it.

First Android phone. Have had every iPhone up to 4 and a couple of BBs (last was most recent Curve- employer provided). Bought the ATT One X on Sunday.....

Love the screen (size and res). Love widgets and customization features. Notifications are also better than IOS 5. Integration with GMail is superb (with one caveat- see below). Camera is better than iPhone 4, and software is fantastic. I do find that the common apps I've used (IMDB, Scorecenter, Twitter, USA Today, Pulse) are available and generally free, however there's no denying that they look much better on IOS. Undeniable, really. Not a complaint, per se, but as a point of comparison you have to give IOS the advantage there.

Two issues I'd love help with:

1. The phone has restarted itself no less then 5 times since I've gotten it. Twice today already, 3x yesterday and 1x the first day. Is this common? For all my iphones combined, I think the OS shutdown and restarted itself maybe 10x total.

2. The much discussed android.process.abcore error. This could be a deal-breaker. I think it has something to do with how the ATT guy transferred my contacts (I didn't want him to- I'd already backed up everything to GMail) but I've gotten this crippling error each day so far. I've deleted the google account once and started over fresh- and still got it again this morning. GMail was also unresponsive this morning and forced the phone to quit 2x already.

I'm willing to tinker with the phone- otherwise why go Android?- but at some point I need core-functionality to "just work". I want to keep this phone but if these two issues can't be resolved, this guy will likely be going back to ATT.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I would do a factory reset and then load gmail again sync contacts etc and see how it runs. If all good add back apps and see if the problem comes back.

I have not had my phone restart ever. The only weird thing I have experienced is for some reason my apps icons will change to the android dude with no label. When I launch the app it works fine.

I suggest doing a factory reset and the add your contacts through syncing your gmail account. That is how I always do it and have never had a issue (including on my HOX).

I have used the One X exclusively for 17 days now. There are a bunch of things I love about this phone (mostly hardware) but in the end it comes down to apps for me. Especially the quality/design of apps. The One X has a large beautiful screen to display butt ugly Android apps. It's a shame and it's been a very tough decision but it's back to my iPhone 4S for now. Going to hang on to my One X until I'm forced to make a decision on it (June 3rd). I'll still prowl this forum sharing tips I've learned in my 17 days.

Hey for anyone who just dont like the look of the app's, you can always theme them.

Personally i like using ADW launcher but with every launcher they're are many different themes that give the apps a totally different look and feel.

Worth a shot :)

I'm coming from an iPhone 4S. I've used Android in the past but always wound back up with an iPhone. So far, I'm loving the HOX. I'm keeping my iPhone in the car as a BT media player. I never listen to music or watch media on my phone...usually use my iPad for media these days.

My biggest issues right now...

1. What's the quickest way to put the phone in silent or vibrate? I do miss the little switch on the iPhone. Especially when I go into meetings. The only thing I've come up with is a profile widget on the homescreen.

2. I'm using touchdown for work email and pure calendar widget. I was using this on a Vivid (that I exchanged for the HOX) and I was able to see my gmail and touchdown calendar on the pure calendar widget. Now, for the life of me, I can't get the touchdown calendar to show up even though I can select it in the widget config. Ugh! Worked fine before.

I guess things are pretty good if those are my only two issues at the moment!

I didn't see if it was covered, but If you want a slick way to switch profiles you can use NFC tags and stick one in the office and one at home, one in the car etc.

I've had almost every iPhone including the iPhone 4S (on VZW and ATT). I'm also coming from the Razr Maxx and Lumia 900.

This really is the best Android phone you can get right now. The Razr Maxx does have amazing battery life but that's not really a feature.... it's a quality of the phone. I think about the camera, the screen size, the display, the feel of the phone and ICS.... the HOX wins. I'm really loving this phone. Sense 4.0 takes a little bit of time to get used to but I like it.

The iPhone just really started to bore me. I'm an Apple user and iOS is stale. I like how you can do so much with Android. One example is buying music through Amazon ON your phone. I can download it and add it to my music library automatically. On iOS you can only do that with iTunes.

Been using iPhone 3GS for three years and made the jump to Andriod with my HOX. Although it took a little getting used to I love my HOX (even tho it has a few bugs). I'm waiting out the bugs in hopes HTC will send out an update soon. The bugs don't kill it for me and I absolutely love my HOX...

In my mind, the HOX is an iPhone killer. IMHO :)

While i think the phone is great on a hardware aspect, the software is not up to par compared to the iPhone. Email i do not find as fluid as iOS, the quality of apps in general for android are not nearly as polished, and the bottom menu bar that is on most apps is very very annoying. HTC should have went with software keys and adopted more toward ICS to avoid this issue. I find myself hitting the volume keys on the side multiple times because of how large they are, and the power button is tough to get to at times. I have decided i am going to sell the HTC on craigslist. I enjoyed my Galaxy s2 but this device has issues that need to be addressed.

Hardware is amazing, I'm ready to throw this against the wall because of the software...

No links available in emails?!?!? Really?
