Any lags on S6?

Managed to take a video on some of the lag Ive been experiencing with the phone.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5G_2M6l4wM

As you can see in the video, I dont have a lot of apps opened, just your typical Gmail, Whatsapp, Facebook gallery etc. You can start to see some stuttering and lag around the 0:35 second mark. I have the new feed on on the left most home screen disabled so its not grabbing any updates anymore. The lag will go away when I clear away the task drawer, or somethings, a restarted is needed.

I dont think a phone of this caliber should be experiencing any lag at all. Im not really sure whats causing it, the bloatware installed on the phone, the CPU Samsung's own CPU or other hardware problems, or because the apps opened is causing it (highly doubt it)

Mine is just like yours and I just did a factory reset. My previous s6 was also like that before I had to exchange it due to a screen defect.

Yes, now that I've been using it for a few weeks, I started to see some lag. But that is expected - you install a few apps, start using them and it is expected to happen :( .

I don't ever notice lag on my s6 but from a time or two. Never anything very noticeable. I really have to think about when it has lagged, what I was doing at the time because it's never longer than a second. While I was still on TW, the double tap camera launch did seem slower than when I first got the phone, But once I set up my Nova Prime, it's quick and snappy to the camera.

My s6 is buttery smooth with the occasional bread crumb.

People with some "lag", did you change the theme? Also, check your apps cache and do a Wipe cache Partition on recovery mode as instructed before and see if it gets better.

I think that's the point some ppl here are trying to make. You shouldn't HAVE to do all of that with a flagship phone with these kind of specs. With earlier versions sure but not with this.

And I think you are missing my point, Themes are completely optional and a new stuff designed by other people not Samsung, they created the Theme Designer app but the Designer may use heavy graphics and other stuff to make the theme and it may affect the UI and cause lag at some points (I agree that Samsung should have better ways to prevent this).

Just to clear things, I'm recommending Clearing Apps Cache and Wipe cache partition because of the Themes involved, not because it's a must. Of 8 devices (S6 and S6 edge) I have set, 7 are working great, no lag, no stutter, nothing since day one, 3 since April 10th, and the rest since weeks later, only 1 had issues and after changing the theme, it went back to normal behavior. That tells me that this phone doesn't lag by design or normally, something is causing it to lag, in this case a Theme, but it may be an Anti-Virus or any other App in general.

It's up to you if once you get the "lag" you just complain saying that you shouldn't do anything about it, but for at least the people that comes to this forums, it shouldn't be that hard to at least troubleshoot and look for the cause and the fix, then to share it with the rest of us.

I don't have to do any of that with my S6E, unlocked, non-carrier branded, international (925F) running with a AT&T sim.
Mine is quick, snappy, no lag, no stutters, no problems at all.
I think some of what people see are "problems" caused by the mod'd firmware and/or bloatware that many carriers do/add.
Here in the US, Verizon for instance, has had a problem with most of their stuff for a while now, They totally screwed the 5.1 update on the LG G3 with their mod'd firmware. I also have a G3, same as the S6E, international, non-carrier, etc. and mine is butter smooth.

I really prefer international unlocked devices because you get updates faster and no bloats.

Oh wow...lag is expected to happen on a flagship device? My iPhone 6 Plus has absolutely zero lag after nearly 9 months. It's as fast as it was on the day it was new. Can't say the same for the S6.

I've been asking around on various forum, who is experiencing lag and redraws and who's not. I think I may have gotten closer to the answer. I bought my s6edge on the day it came out and to be honest it's never lived up to my expectations in terms of speed. I have constant redraws and plenty of stutter. I even started a thread to on XDA about redraws. Thread went cold after 2 pages.

I thought I couldn't be the only one with those redraws. Anyhoo...A friend of mine got the same phone I got, black 64gb s6 edge. He kept telling me he had no lag and no redraws. I thought he was messing with me. I saw him today and spent about 5 minutes fiddling with the phone and got nothing. No stutter, no lag, no redraw. It really put my phone to shame. It was snappier in every aspect.

Btw I took my phone to the samsung service center this morning. I told them the issue I was having and what did they do? A/S ASSY-REWORK--KIT in other words. Adhesive, yeah glue. I told them my phone lags and they fixed the glue...

Here's my point. My friend any did find a difference between his phone and mine the manufacturing date. Mine was built on 20150326 and his was built on 20150426, one month later. I think it comes down to the batch your phone is from.

I'm calling Samsung tomorrow to see if I can get a new phone.

Sorry to tell you but my S6 edge was manufactured by mid march and have no lag or stutter. My recently acquired Blue Topaz S6 was manufactured in May and the same, like I said above of 8 phones, all from obviously different batches and purchased during this past 3 months, only 1 began with some lag and stutter, it it went back to normal after I cleared the app cache and wiped cache data and put back the default theme. Just to be clear, I had wiped the cache before and nothing, it got better just after changing the theme.

Interesting. The thing is I have no theme everything stock. Factory reset by Samsung this afternoon and it already started to hiccup.

If it began with issue right away, then just ask for a replacement, yours seems to be defective, but if it worked fine for a while and then began with the issue, boot up in safe mode and use it for a while, if it works fine in safe mode then you have an app causing it, the challenge always is to find which one but at least you'd know that it's not hardware related.

Well, a friend of mine has iPhone 6 and it started lagging a bit after a few months, so it depends what you install and how you use it. The fact that it is a flagship means only that it will run smoother with the same apps that you install on a less powerful device.

Also, the lag on my phone (which is almost undetectable), is caused only the first few seconds when connected to the internet, but that is normal - it uses a lot of resources, so it is expected. It also happens on my iPhone 4s, my old phone - Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC Desire 500, Huawei Ascend Mate and tablet.

After two days of use my phone starts to lag, redraw, and stutter. After three days of use my Galaxy S6 (verizon) is unuseable it is so bad. I have wiped the cache partition, factory reset, no themes, basically I have done just about everything. I decided just to reboot every morning to avoid creeping lag on the phone. I could exchange it for a newly refurbished phone but I do not want to run the risk of setting up another phone only to find that it may have the same problems. I will reboot every day and then get the new Moto X in September. It will have stock Android, better RAM management, and better antenna. I have had it with Samsung and I probably will never get another one.

Of the 8 S6 and S6 Edge I've set and still have access to them (co-workers and family) just 1 began showing similar symptoms after almost 3 months of owning it, at least similar to what I could see in your video, I put it back the default theme and it began working as usual.

So, first thing I could tell you is put back your default theme, clear all the apps cache (settings-Storage) and do a Wipe cache Partition on recovery mode. (turn off the phone, press and hold volume up, home and power buttons until you see the Android robot) After you reboot see if it's better, if so, then if you want to keep troubleshooting then re-install same theme you have now and try again, it may work fine for a while but wait seems that with the themes then you should check more often the app cache.

The phone feels fine now after clearing the cache like you said, but I gotta see how long this lasts.

I dont want this to be a regular thing I have to do in order for my phone to run smoothly.

If I feel my phone slowing down I just use the app CCleaner, it clears the cache in 30 seconds.

Recently moved back to my S6 after a couple of updates and I'm not getting lag. At least, I'm not noticing any.

I've had it since launch and don't really notice any lag, its a super responsive phone...much more than I anticipated to be honest. It's exceeded my expectations as far as performance.

Same here. After three months, no issues. Just installed Nova Prime. Material Dark theme. Icon packs. Still the fastest smoothest device I have ever owned.
