Any lags on S6?

For those of you that have access to an iPhone 6 or 6+, try coming to this forum and navigate around then use your S6 and you'll see a huge difference in performance.

I returned my S6 due to the lagging issues I've experienced not just in the browser but on FB, ESPN app and many others.

I will probably pick one up again once an OTA patch is released to address these issues though. The S6's camera and display is just too damn good!

Then you should have missed the post where user was reporting just the same than you, he followed the suggestion to go to Developer options (you need to Activate it first as is a hidden menu) and changed the animation from 1.0x to .5x or 0 and there was no more lag or what our was perceived as lag, as you can see that's obvious a scroll Animation perception.

Funny thing is that I had been telling him to do that since the first day he posted about it and it wasn't until 2 weeks later that new did it because other user told him to, in those 2 weeks be was posting about the same almost daily, and I just stopped trying helping him because I've already told him everything I could, so the morale of this is, if you have issues like this, post them here, but more important when somebody give you hints or suggestions try them, you won't lose anything trying them but a lot to gain instead. I'm very sure that in your case it may have helped you also, good luck next time is you decide to try the S6 again, it's simply an amazing device.

I actually did try that, I just didn't mention it because it didn't help so I didn't think of posting about it.

The issue was with JavaScript, turning it off would resolve the "lag" but again this renders websites useless as just text. I tried majority of supposed "fixes" that users had mentioned but nothing helped which is why I ended up returning it.

Like I said, I hope they release an OTA update to address these issues, there's absolutely no reason why a device of this caliber should lag this much in certain areas. Not saying an iPhone is perfect because it's far from it but to me these issues will just annoy the hell out of me on a day to day basis.

Thanks for the suggestion though, I do hope that in time I'll be able to jump on back on this amazing device once the software issues are ironed out.

Very rarely does my S6 lag...I mean almost never. In terms of Android this is the least amount of lag I've ever seen or used, in terms of all phones it's on par with iPhone and top windows phones.

Love the honeymoon period for new phones. My S6 is the best phone ever, made better than any other manufacturer and better than any other OS. I think that some people believe the the S6 will even mow their lawn. The S6 is awesome but it does have it's flaws and if anyone claims that TW is lag free then they are still in the honeymoon phase. I love my S6 but it's not totally perfect.

Im not sure lag is the best way to describe tw on the s6, it's more like an inconsistent experience, sometimes it will be just right, other times it will under-react or maybe over-react to your input. Coming from the htc m7 , I found sense much more consistent and knew how it would react. TW on the S6 is more of an unpredictable wild horse, although I think it can be tamed with the right tweaks.

I know right? It's amazing how people go in full defense mode if a flaw is called out on a new device.

I posted up a thread on XDA about the browser lag and the people there got all **** hurt saying I was trying to start a iOS vs Android war! Can you believe that nonsense?

Like I've said, I praise the S6 up and down but there's a serious flaw in its software that is making it lag. Those of you that refuse to acknowledge this are just too in love with the S6 or have never used an iPhone to compare the simple things you do on a daily basis to the S6.

The problem with your logic is that you and all that think like you, are assuming that ALL phones are showing the same behavior, when you do that you will have critics. I'm no Samsung fanboy, I know what lag is, I've had basically all Galaxies, plus 6 other Non-Samsung in the past year, and yes, I had 3 iPhones (Stopped buying them when after the 3rd one I realized that it was the same one than the first with a different bezel, and still no Customizable UI) and still need to use and help my boss, his secretary and a couple of co-workers with their iPhone 5, 5S and 6 iphones usage as I'm the IT guy at the office and they seem to have Zero knowledge about a smartphone other than turn it on and off, making calls and send texts with iMessage.

So, with the above cleared, I do know what lag is, I know what iPhones are capable of and I know what other Android phones do and are capable of, I've had Motorola, LG, OnePlus One, Nexus and HTC in these past almost 3.5 years with Android, and I can tell you, that my S6 edge has ZERO lag and it's performance is very close to flawless, so who are you to tell me that I'm lying or don't know what lag is?

You want to show that yours have lags, just record a video of it and post it, obviously show where you see that lag, contrary to you, I'm not saying that you are lying or don't know what lag is, just prove it. Lag can be as simply as the Phone's fault, hardware or OS, may be caused by huge memory leaks or simply you may have a rogue app, so it can be lot of things, blaming that on the phone alone is nonsense, just to keep repeating what you have read or heard before is also nonsense. Again, just prove it, people here will try to see on their phones if they can replicate the same you are experiencing and then, and only then, we can get a consensus if the "lag" is the phone's fault or it may be something else. Or you can simply ignore what I'm saying here and keep on your daily routine and life, but believe me we will also do the same and will still enjoying one of the best smartphone on the market today.

I don't usually see comparison article reviews or video reviews because I'm an adult who get my own conclusions, but in this case this Youtube Video (one of the hundreds you can see on Youtube)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TMc8C0GsSg
will show you exactly what I'm experiencing, and yes, I already have done a similar test with my boss's iPhone 6. So again, not everybody are experiencing lags at all, if you have, then sorry, but don't come here saying that we don't know what we are talking about or even lying about it.

Listen, I'm not here to start another argument. When and if I have a S6 again I will gladly post a video about it.

Me neither, but don't post here things like they are gospels just change the tone a little and say, In my case, or in my experience, don't assume that your bad experience is the same for others and even worse, don't post things like "Those of you that refuse to acknowledge this are just too in love with the S6 or have never used an iPhone to compare the simple things you do on a daily basis to the S6." if you are indeed not trying to start another argument.

Good luck with your flawless iPhone.

And what exactly is that? People come to forums to tell about issues, threads showing positive things are very rare, and that's for all devices, so it's obvious that those forums are plagued with issues, all of them VALID issues (other than the usual trolls) but just for the user that experiences it, coming here saying that ALL devices are faulty, that people that don't agree with what was posted are refusing to acknowledge or accept that ALL devices must have the same issue are either in love with the device or lying is totally wrong and nonsense.

Again, he and the rest users posting issues are in most cases (again, with the exception of the usual troll) are posting their experiences and they have all the rights to complain about it and come here to post them and look for help, but there is a thin line there that you cross when you want to imply that ALL devices must be doing the same. Saying that will cause controversy no matter where it's posted or what devices are involved, why? because that's not true for everybody.

IPhone 6 Plus has absilutely zero stutter and instant screen responsiveness. After being out of the Android world for a bit, my expectation was that they were on par with Apple on this but from my S6 experience so far, it's not even close. Lots of other things to love about my S6 but responsiveness (and battery life) is certainly not one of them.

I'm actually in the same exact boat. I jumped ship from an iPhone 6+ hoping that the experience would be better, but I'm really dissappointed with how unresponsive this phone is.

I had a huge battery in my 6+, so I understood that the battery life through out the day wouldn't be as long. I'm also missing the insane standby time of IOS though. If you didn't use it, the battery stayed at the same percentage. I've never had that on an android and it's really frusturating.

I think the closest brand to iphone in Android world is HTC.
Btw apple copied the M8's look for their iphone 6.
HTC Sense UI is faster than ios specially with roms like Leedroid.
About the S6: I had an S6 for 20 days, no lags apart the recent apps but the thing is that Sense 7 on M9 is 4 times faster in UI

Managed to take a video on some of the lag Ive been experiencing with the phone.

As you can see in the video, I dont have a lot of apps opened, just your typical Gmail, Whatsapp, Facebook gallery etc. You can start to see some stuttering and lag around the 0:35 second mark. I have the new feed on on the left most home screen disabled so its not grabbing any updates anymore. The lag will go away when I clear away the task drawer, or somethings, a restarted is needed.

I dont think a phone of this caliber should be experiencing any lag at all. Im not really sure whats causing it, the bloatware installed on the phone, the CPU Samsung's own CPU or other hardware problems, or because the apps opened is causing it (highly doubt it)

i don't see why everybody claims the iPhone has no lag . ive tried both the 6 and 6 plus and both those phone lagged at one time or another . for the most part they were great but they still had times were they would lag not bad not nothing crazy but not 100% super duper smooth like some people try to make out. ive never seen any type of computer device that didn't lag or stutter or freeze up at some point or another. every last bit of software released today is half baked.

Of the 8 S6 and S6 Edge I've set and still have access to them (co-workers and family) just 1 began showing similar symptoms after almost 3 months of owning it, at least similar to what I could see in your video, I put it back the default theme and it began working as usual.

So, first thing I could tell you is put back your default theme, clear all the apps cache (settings-Storage) and do a Wipe cache Partition on recovery mode. (turn off the phone, press and hold volume up, home and power buttons until you see the Android robot) After you reboot see if it's better, if so, then if you want to keep troubleshooting then re-install same theme you have now and try again, it may work fine for a while but wait seems that with the themes then you should check more often the app cache.

I am coming from a Note 4 to a Galaxy S6. I'm smoothness the S6 is definitely smoother no doubt about it. After lolipop the Note 4 was intolerable.

For what it's worth, my S6 doesn't behave like that at all, even if I'm deliberately trying to abuse it. The only slowdown in performance I ever experience is when I go into the applications manager and the list is still populating. It's very minor though (only lasts a second or two), and only under those circumstances. Other than that, app/browser/camera switching remains lightning fast, even using a third party launcher (Nova Prime).
