I like mine. But I must reluctantly confess it's starting to make me question it slightly.
I bought my first when Verizon released them. I returned it due to sometimes running hot, and battery life concerns.
I bought a replacement almost 2 weeks ago. I am having better luck this time, but honestly that's probably because I have fewer apps installed at the moment. But my 14 days is almost up, and this one has shown 2 concerns so far:
- Twice now I have been unable to hear anything on a call (even using Visual Voicemail) when using the phone's "earpiece" speaker. But when I switched it on Bluetooth, or speakerphone, it was fine, even without hanging up the call. Sometimes I just heard a crackling from the earpiece. I rebooted the phone when I noticed this the second time, and then it started working properly again. It's a PHONE, so this is disconcerting. I could be forced to put a call on speakerphone (not always an option) to simply take an incoming call. I suspect this is a software thing, as a reboot fixed it, but really, this simply should not happen.
- My vibrate feature has started making a funny noise/feel sometimes when it runs. This is kind of minor, I know. But I use it for keyboard feedback, so it runs often, and I want to keep the phone for 2 years. My Galaxy S3 is 2.5 years old and never felt weird/different over time. In a way, this concerns me more than the speaker, as it is obviously a hardware thing, and the phone is basically still new. I could hope it doesn't get worse, and at least have the warranty for support, but then I'd probably get a refurb, and a replacement might already have an OTA, making root tougher.
So now I have to decide if I want to keep it, or exchange it, with only 1 day left to evaluate the replacement. Or return it *again*, and buy a 3rd (!) one, resetting my 14-day return period. Stubbornness is kicking in slightly, I *want* to make this work, as the G4 is the closest fit for my phone requirements. Disappointed, as I thought this 2nd one was a good one.
