Any reason to buy from Sprint vs Radioshack?

I was looking to try the Epic again now that it should *hopefully* get better battery life with the newest updates, but I'm a bit on the fence as who to buy it from. My options are either visit the Sprint store I went to the first time (staff was great there) *or* go to Radioshack and get it for $220 w/o rebate. Is there any reason I should really go with the Sprint store instead of Radioshack? Can RS add the discount for working at a school to my account, or do I have to go directly to Sprint for that?

The ONLY reason to go to a Sprint Retail store, is to test drive the live displays or return/exchange a unit. And whatever admin RS or BB can't handle, call CS directly. Not to mention that RS and BB swallow that MIR upfront.

Returning can be a little more complex. Also, if you get a discount through work or school I believe you need to buy from sprint(i could be wrong) but that is how it was explained to me.

The discounts are on your plan and not the actual phone itself, therefore can be added at anytime by calling CS.

So, the only reason I see to buy from Sprint is because you like doing mail-in rebates (or you like forgetting to send the rebate in thus paying the extra $50 to $100).

I understand that the discounts are on the plan and not the phone. I figured since RS is setting up the plan, perhaps it's possible for them to add on the discount.

The plan discounts can be added by Sprint customer service at anytime to your account regardless of where you purchased your phone. Let RadioShack setup your plan then simply give Sprint a call and have them add your employer discount. Easy. Unless you want and are approved to charge the cost of the phone to your Sprint account (which only a corporate Sprint store can do), I see no reason not to buy from Radio Shack.

Alright thanks, just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was missing out on by going through RS instead of directly through Sprint.

The reason I said what I said was pertaining to me specifically. I use student rate and got a 23 percent discount. I had to go through them however to get the discount. That forced me to order through sprint.

If you can get it via your work and just add it on; go that way-- It just in theory is more simple to deal with the company for returns exhanges rather than sprint. Does your insurance come through sprint or RS?

Well, I went to RS and the salesman told me I'd have to call Sprint to add it on (after he asked if I might be employed somewhere where I might get a discount...). Anyway, I called up Sprint and had them put it back on my account.

So... here we go again. Gonna see how the Epic does with the newest update. If this falls through, my eye is set on the G2.
