Since May. No lagging, runs great. Starts up and shuts down in seconds. Can handle school, basic games like Counter Strike. the "official" name on amazon is HP Pavilion b017cl 14" sleekbook

Get an Asus, they aren't locked down like a prison. Unlike HP, Toshiba, dell, and Compaq.

Plus they supply HP and Toshiba's hardware, so why not buy direct from the manufacturer.

I've always gone with Asus for my custom desktops. And have never had any problems with it. Unlike my old RAC HP laptop, which came with loads of bloat, that I didn't need. I couldn't even remove some of it, due to my first complaint, in the first paragraph.

And don't buy an hp simply because of beats. It may come preinstalled, but it really is extremely simple to install it in different brand laptops as well.

I'm looking at Asus's too if my laptop repair bill is high. Fingers cross its the cable I suspect is buggered.

Many great quality Asus laptops are priced well under lesser spec'd models from other manufacturers. I'd look closely at them.

I thought I posted in this thread.

I tell people the same thing.

If you aren't gaming(no candy crush doesn't count), any laptop with 4gb of ram and an i3 processor is good enough. I don't know where your location is but Fry's always have tons of these laptops around the 350 dollar range from different manufacturers.

Then with coupon you can get a 3 year squaretrade warranty with accidental damage protection(drops and spills) for around 70 dollars.

Thanks for all your help guys, I finally took the plug and got the hp pavilion g6-2210si.

The idea that I could just take a walk down the road to the local hp dealer for support was overwhelming, knowing that replacing accessories such as the battery would be a breeze as I could just order it at the hp shop sold me, hp support for south Africa is unmatched, it's that and the good reviews that made me choose the pavilion. It's reviewed
as having a good screen, good battery and solid build quality that sold me.

Again, thanks for all your help guys :)
