I have a Samsung s21 plus and it's been great so far. I've been thinking about buying a pixel 6.any thoughts, I'm I downgrading?

I upgraded to the 6 pro and never looked back. So far my experience has truly been an absolute joy.

Depends on how you use your phone. What are some of the things you are getting or not getting with the new pixel? I "upgraded" from the fold 2 and iPhone 13 Pro and there are a few things why I moved to the Pixel 6.

- Pixel AI Features: Call screening, now playing, smart voice inputs, quicker Android 12 updates, etc.
- No Bloatware: Not external bloat but the duplicate ones pushed by Samsung. You can hide and not use them but it is the principle. Hopefully the Wear OS partnership btw Google and Samsung will just simplify, consolidate and have a singular experience.
- Value: Flagship specs for half the cost
- Size: Not too big or too small (see my extreme sizes of my last 2 phones)

I don't think you'd be downgrading - it's just a different experience!

Also, I love your avatar!

I played with one in a store very nice device but the reviews are all over the map! Lots of positive and negative reviews, I can't believe how bad the FPS is according to the reviews because they were always the best on every pixel.

I came from the S21 Ultra to the Pixel 6 and 6 pro. I switched for some of the reasons that others have said. Most important was the call screen. I may get one in a day when I used to get 5 to 10 junk calls. That is even with TMobile spam blocker.
The phones are basically the same as far as smoothness
Having the regular 6 I do notice the screen is not as bright as the S21. That is why I have been using the pro the most and may just sell the regular 6.
I have not rocked a Google phone since the 3xl. Samsung has been my go to and I also just wanted to try a good stock Android phone.
I feel the Pixel is good and in a few updates it will be really good or even great.
The finger print scanner is good. It's not like the S21 it's more of a press and hold but it works equal to Samsung for me.

I came from a Pixel 3XL. It's been working pretty much flawlessly for 2 years, but I was filling up the memory, so i decided to upgrade. For the P6P, the first issue I have is the fingerprint sensor. It was much better on the 3XL and my OG Pixel XL, and the rear location was definitely my preference. I've scanned multiple versions of my fingerprints, and sometimes it is stubborn.

Worse than that, is my bluetooth connectivity in the car. I actually make calls when I drive, and I live in a hands-free state, so this is of high importance to me. If I just drive someplace and don't make a call, my phone stays connected to the car the whole time. If I make a call, a minute or 2 into the call, it disconnects from the car, and I have to go to hand held. This is extremely frustrating, and I'm hoping the update next week fixes this, or I'll be contacting Google for a new phone.

I was totally used to the two button navigation that was on my 3XL with Android 12, and the fact that this phone doesn't offer it makes no sense. Their gesture mode was not great, so I'm using the 3 button option, which so far is fine.

I need to spend more time with the camera, but so far, I'm liking it. In general, I'm happy with the phone, just need a few bugs worked out for it be closer to perfect.

I have owned Pixel 2, 5, and 6, and my Other Half has a 5a.

For the price, I simply could not resist the pixel 6, and I am delighted with it.

There is nothing on this earth which can resist a determined search for flaws and faults.

I've a S20 plus 5g which has served me well for the last 2 years. But the battery hadn't been as good over the last 3-4 months. And I'm now due an upgrade. The network I'm with only have the pixel 6 available, but not the pro. Which is my preferred choice. They are also providing pixel buds if ordered by the 4th of January. Should I wait for the S22 to arrive? I've never been a huge fan of Samsung. This is my second Samsung. I had an S10 5g before the S20 plus. So my question is. Would taking the pixel 6 to replace my S20+ be a downgrade? Would I notice a performance drop? Or should I wait for an S22? My networks phone manufacturers are limited. It's either Samsung or Pixel as my android options. I could option to take the pixel 6 as an upgrade. Sell it sealed in the box. Sell the S20 plus and go for a pixel 6 Pro?
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks

I have a 6 Pro, and it's the best phone I've ever had. The only minor downside I've found is that it's not as good at macro photography as prior Pixels (due to the larger camera sensor). But the telephoto and wide angle are awesome.

I am pleased with my choice to switch from the S21 Ultra to the Pixel 6 pro. I like the fact there's no duplication of apps and it's a cleaner UI to me.

No regrets here!
I'm loving my 6 Pro.
Fingerprint sensor is reliable.
Cameras are fabulous.
Call screening is a godsend.
Voice dictation is amazing.
Screen is gorgeous.
Everything is so fast.

Agree with everything but the fps lol. It's been so unreliable for me. Glad that smart lock exist.

I was very apprehensive about the FPS. I carefully followed instructions to set up all sides and tip. When scanning, I hold the extra fraction of a second to feel the haptic "buzz". My FPS works for me almost 100% of the time. Once in a great while it takes a second try, but so did the FPS on my 3XL. I can honestly say that I'm very happy with my 6 Pro FPS.

Came from the 4XL, loved face recognition, hate, hate, hate FPR. I can not get it to work... Phone good otherwise. The 6 with facial recognition would be wonderful, I can't understand why Google wouldn't use it. A product must be functional, security shouldn't ruin functionality.

Isn't the Samsung s21 plus a fairly new and expensive flagship? Do you resell the old new phone when you change brands?

Not much Smartphone improvement anymore from one year to the next. Kind of like desktop computers, at first I had to get a new one every few years to keep up with software innovation. Now my last computer I built lasted 10 years and this one is going on year 3.

The improvements I notice over my Pixel 2 XL are:

  • Larger edge to edge screen.
  • Faster WiFi connectivity
  • Former cell dead zones now can get a signal.
  • Bluetooth connects to my earbuds from much longer distances. Now from my locker at the health club to the dry sauna I can listen to music with earbuds without cutting in and out.
  • Google pay seems more reliable.
  • Android 12 and getting security upgrades again.
  • Camera slightly better
  • Voice to type way faster and super accurate even after a few whiskeys (this is the biggest improvement)
  • I guess the processor is faster, but really how fast does a smart phone need to be?

I would think that the Ultra 21 being a new phone has all of the same improvements over my old Pixel 2 so unless money is no object, no need waste cash on a brand change.
