Any regrets getting this phone?

Are you able to use it and still return it before the 13th? If so, might as well give the phone a shot for a few days and see if you like it.

But I'm somewhat in a similar boat to you. The honeymoon period has worn off and crashed with the reception issues in December update. So I'm kinda just waiting for this January update to convince me to keep the phone otherwise I too will just move to the Galaxy S22.

Keep us posted on what you end up doing. Hopefully January's update will fix things. Lots of pressure associated with it! Reception issues are nothing to scoff at -- I hope Google takes that seriously.

I hope the January patch fixes a lot of things too. I do like the phone, would be happy to keep it, but I just cannot have reception issues like that, and I don't want to stay on the November patch forever. So if there's no improvement, then I'll just move on. It's not a huge deal, it's not some life-changing decision, it's just a phone.

Haven't had a Pixel in a while and there are certain features that I do like and would miss, but then again, I do miss certain features of the Galaxy and would be happy to go back to that too, haha. Can't win em all.

Why does Samsung block time from displaying seconds? That eliminates them from consideration for me.

I agree to what you said , hopefully January patch gets everyone feeling good about their pixels again.

If they fail to release an update this month and push it to February I will get rid of the pixel. Seems to me their software doesn't work well with their tensor chip

Honestly, the only thing I sorta regret about my Pixel 6 Pro, coming from using nothing but Samsungs and an occasional iPhone, is how overly Google the Google experience is. What I mean is the ridiculous amount of "suggestions" and bleeding edge software baked into the Pixel's Android 12 experience. I literally almost stroked out when my phone kept trying to suggest these lovey/intimate emoji stickers in a Messages chat and I couldn't tell if they had automatically sent in the convo or not. If they had sent in that particular convo it would have really messed things up for me with that woman.

I'm not trying to be a hater. I do like my phone. It is powerful, I'm working with a stellar camera on this thing, and the Android 12 UI is buttery smooth. I just found myself overwhelmed at times with the amount of features trying to think for me and I couldn't help wondered if I was in control of my phone. No I'm not paranoid. I turned off mostly all of the "suggestions" in the settings and try to ignore all the future ads that would pop up with new pending bleeding edge features.

A few months in on my 6 pro and I'd agree with the comments re battery being sub-par.

In addition to the known cellular drain I find one has the old android habit of losing charge when sitting doing nothing. Even loses circa 10% overnight in flight mode.

Can you direct me to some data which support that statement?

No, Apple passed Samsung for market share by one manufacturer. There is still Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Moto, LG, Google, etc. running Android. When you add all other manufacturers that use Android, Apple is not number one. Far from it.

Android maintained its position as the leading mobile operating system worldwide in June 2021, controlling the mobile OS market with a close to 73 percent share. Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS jointly possess over 99 percent of the global market share.

I'm awaiting a new BMW, ordered last March. Apple carplay is built in but to have android auto is a cost option of around £800 in the UK..... even though android is easily the biggest platform for mobile phones worldwide by a margin of almost 3 to 1.....go figure

I posted Mobile VENDOR MARKETSHARE
YOU POSTED Mobile SYSTEM MARKETSHARE
Just a slight difference.
One is items by vendor one is system and there is no doubt, due to all the android phones, Android is larger than IOS.

Ever realize that those that jumped from Samsung went to one of the other manufactures and not just Apple? I'm guessing if someone jumps from Samsung and Android device, they will most likely remain with an Android device (not in all cases, but in most).
And if people did jump off Androids wagon, they could have jumped on Apples. Not sure if we can figure that out or not. But Xiomi, and OnePlus both had large increases last year.

Now, for the USA chart, actual numerical stats are:
Apple: 59.15
Samsung: 26.44
Motorola: 3.94
LG: 3.32
Google: 2.38
Unknown: 1.06
Totals 37.14 Difference of 22.01

All depends on USA vs. Worldwide; however, we can always post charts for every other country in the world. But not me; I have better things to do.

That is what I have seen quoted.

In the rest of the world, Android pretty much is the market.

Agree. NO DEBATE. For one thing there are a heck of a lot of very cheap Android phone made and sold in countries where people do not have the money to purchase Apple products or higher end Android phones.

I'll bet Apple is paying to get that update; whereas, Android doesn't, thus pushing the cost off to the consumer.
