I have a motorola_moto_g_power_(2021) bought from a verizon store. The app that came with it was called Message Plus. It was shut down 12/9/24. I can no longer group text. I do not want to replace it with the google message app. Is there any other choice out there for me? Thank you very much for reading.

If you want RCS? Not really. BeeperLite but still uses Google to achieve RCS. Basic text messaging, 100's of options and probably 50 threads on here.

For the free version, probably. Keep in mind that developers need to make money somehow, and ads are the usual way, unless you agree to pay for a premium version.

Do you have to load RCS first to use beeper or textra? From what I have read it adds to it? I don't understand.

I don't know about Beeper, but Textra doesn't support RCS. A texting app has to support RCS in order to use it -- at this time, that would only be Google Messages or Samsung Messages.

Is Textra still the best replacement out there in your guys opinion? Does google have to be up and running anyway?

I would least find a back up solution if Textra doesn't have by default but no you don't need Google messages running but I prefer in my opinion over any of the others out there.

OK, so you are saying you prefer Textra then? Also, does everyone you message to have to have Textra to get your messages? Do you Know how I can pay for textra's premium service by not having to pay via the cellphone? Example like paying with a credit card over a website etc. I do not have a credit card connected to my phone, no wallet etc. Thank You Mustang!

Does anyone on this forum use Textra? I would #1 like to know if others you message to, have to have Textra to get your messages.

Perhaps the best alternatives are apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, and Viber, which support group messaging and are widely used. However, if you prefer to use SMS/MMS for group chats, you may want to consider apps like Pulse SMS or Chomp SMS, which offer advanced features over the standard messaging app.

thank you so much, do both of these have advertisements?
Use a free and open source app like Fossify Messages or QUIK SMS. FOSS apps never have ads/trackers.
Do NOT use Textra, it has 7 trackers, including dangerous ones like InMobi, Smaato, etc.

No, they dont't. Software is not an industry. That's what their job is for.
