Any side effects to battery pull simulation

In can in some cases cause errors in apps that are improperly closed, but most apps are going to be fine so this is a low risk. It's definitely not a recommended action, but on modern phones there's not a lot that it can hurt as long as you don't do it during a software update, during app optimization, etc.

To expanded upon my Force-sensitive buddy above... really, the only think you have to worry about it data corruption/loss. At any given moment, there may be bits of pieces of data that haven't gotten written to storage, flushed fromt the cache, etc. Now, on Android, the system stuff is usually tucked away nice and safe in a read-only, static partition... so the chances of the system stuff getting corrupted in ordinary use is pretty slim. Even user data corruption is pretty rare.

Now, doing a hard-reset during a system update (which people do more than you would think), well, here be dragons.

To initiate this reboot, you are letting the system close all programs & restart. How can you get corruption? That would only happen from a physical battery pull.

The battery pull simulation doesn't do a close all and restart, it's more akin to holding the power button on a PC... shuts everything down, whether it is busy or not, ready or not and then resets immediately.
