Any switchers from Pre to Epic4g see the "new" Pre 2?

I think that I did the right thing by switching to the Epic for now...I'm premier and can upgrade again in a year, maybe the new WebOS superphone will be out by then. I love my Epic but still really miss WebOS.

It's hard to explain to others why WebOS is so great...I've found you just have to experience it. :)

Everything I read on the Sprint Pre 2 leaked spec sheet the Pre 2 is supposed to have a 4" screen 1ghz processor 524mb ram webOS 2.2 (that's supposed to be much improved). Could you even imagen the speed of a 1ghz processor on a pre? And the ability to actually see what you're doing? Don't get me wrong I love android and I probably won't switch but I'm glad they are finally stepping up.

I had my Pre overclocked to 1ghz for the last 2 months or so of using it as my cell. It really made the OS much nicer and more efficient. WebOS is phenomenal, and I'm sure WebOS 2.0 will help its efficiency and add other bells and whistles...but lets be honest, WebOS is a dying software, and owning any dying software is not a fun experience.

Now if WebOS was on more than one or two phones every couple of years, and they let other phone companies use the OS so that it would have more support, and maybe it could be optimized/expanded more by HTC/Samsung/Motorola/etc? Then it may have a fighting chance...

I had my Pre overclocked as soon as it came out, so much better, but to release a phone like this should've been done on the Plus.

Changed to Android reluctantly, didn't like the Evo, but LOVE my Epic. I had always wanted the IPhone (have ITouch) and honestly if it came out now, am
too happy with Epic to make that switch.

It is smooth, do miss the swipe, really liked WebOS, but the Epic's performance
in relationship to my hubby's Evo (gave above to him), is so much sweeter
than my Pre. Yes, I have always had Palm, bought stock (lost money). But a
shiner version of the phone which should have been released no later than
June, just doesn't catch up to newer ones. It needs to surpass, not come out
now as an alternative. There aren't enough old Pre users who will buy or they
will wait.

And go into a store, no sales people were pushing the Pre, they dealt with all the problems and have moved on to Android, maybe Windows, won't happen with
"newest", that will kill sales.

As far as the specs go, I don't believe this phone is supposed to launch till Q1 2011? I mean, that was what Palm/HP had originally said, I don't know if that info has changed. But if it does, that will be pretty much one year after the EVO, with the same specs. One year behind the cutting edge will not get it done no matter how good WebOS is.

I knew nothing about android before I tried the Epic. Over on the pre forum, you would think it was totally unusable. I like it alot actually. WebOS does some things well, notifications and multitasking (although webos multitasting is likely the reason the battery does not last long at all). I left because I had no faith in Palm/HP and so far, they are living up to my lack of faith.

I love webos but the pre feels dated and the pre 2 spec bump doesnt make it for me. I was already on my third pre. So far im finding Android to have very nice tools/apps that i did not have on WebOS although it lacks a lot on the UI/usability field. You notice this when you try to back swipe on an app, :( i missed those gestures!!. The epic is very nice hardware.

The only problem that bugging me with my epic is that it likes to restart and boot to recovery mode when is on the holster, apparently the keys get presses accidentally.

I converted from a Pre and definitely wouldn't go back either. Palm needs to really put webos on much much better hardware AND get the resources they need to build that pathetic app library and bring Flash (ahem still doesn't even have it after being demoed almost a full year now). I like the concept of WebOS but they never put it on the right hardware. I love the Epic. Wouldn't give it up for anything right now. Cant wait for Froyo!!!!

Uhh yeah there's no way I'd be switching back to the land of the Pre with these specs... will wait for a "super Pre" to show up that outshines whatever the Pre2 claims that it can do...

I am not at all happy with the Pre 2. It simply does not look like it would suit my needs. I'll be staying Android.

Agreed. I am a Pre ==> Epic convert and was worried that Palm would announce a superphone right after my 30 days were up. No worried anymore. The Pre2 can be characterized as a refresh, but definitely not an overhaul. The processor bump is nice, but the resolution is extremely disappointing. I was playing with a friends Pre Plus the other day, and the screen seemed microscopic and pixelated. Every single person who sees my Epic is amazed by the screen and processor.

Wow the pre 2 is the same thing as the first pre. What a mess palm is in and doing a slight face lift and keeping so many of the crappy specs will not bode well for them. The same phone is not what they needed and I guess I can finally say my final goodbye to palm. Farewell palm it was a long and fun ride.

I owned a Pre and absolutely loved webOS. Unfortunately, as we all know, the hardware quality stinks. The Pre 2 offers nothing fresh or new. It's the same stale hardware with some new components, but even then it can't beat the Epic's speed, awesome screen and huge variety of apps.

Switched to the evo from the pre best thing i ever did. No oreo, speaker on my phone works and i can plug in head phones without the fear of my phone being stuck in headset mode. The new pre 2 with the same build no thanks.

The funniest thing is this is what was supposed to be in Palm's pipeline for so long. I mean, this is what they considered 2nd gen for their device? It's such a joke. This should've been the Pre+ and nothing more. They are beyond a 'tiding people over' point.

Unless 2.0 brings great hardware, better app & development support (hello document editing?), and some wallpaper/widget functionality who is seriously going to buy into webos with android and wp7 out there? The slick and smooth UI just is not enough except for the greatest of prehuggers. Just don't see success. Don't even care if they make a great tablet. The only tablet I'd buy is one that compliments the OS on my phone or PC so apps can be shared and be consistent across devices.

I keep my pre on the nightstand for fun, and that's all it's good for. Still has the best email out there. K9 and maildroid just don't compare.

Very dissapointed with the specs for the Pre2... If they had at least re-designed the phone I might have considered it.... Time to go to the drawing boards Halm...

The announcement of the pre2 going to verizion and no introduction of a competitive phone anytime soon has forced my hand to the Epic. I am two days short- so Tuesday will be the day. My wife picked one up today and is thrilled. Palm has a great OS but they're marketing sucks. I know the merger and all but they are loosing loyal fans like me who will dabble in Android and if I like it, they've lost a customer. It was android that had to win me over last year now its up to palm to win me back. So far it doesnt seem likely.

Had my Epic for less then a week before I was sold enough to put my pre on ebay. The pre 2 is a huge disappointment even though the hardcore palm loyalists act like its the top thing coming out.
