Any text turns on the screen

Any way to make phone just alert without turning on screen with a text

Try downloading a different messaging app. I think the stock messaging app turns on the screen automatically, I couldn't find a way to disable it and found it to be annoying. I downloaded Go SMS and it doesn't turn on the screen when I receive a text.

Do you have Preview Message turned off in settings of Messaging?
