Any thoughts on life after RAZR M?

Now that the M is into it's terrible twos, I would assume it is time for many of us to start thinking about our next phone. I loved my M up until the KitKat update and I don't even hate it now with it's reduced battery life. Had the KitKat update not happened, I might have even held onto my M a little longer.

So which phones are you looking at to replace your M? Sticking with Motorola? Jumping to Samsung or Apple?

The new Moto X might be an option for me (although the battery life looks like it might be so-so) or I might look at the Samsung Galaxy S5. I really liked the size of my M and that it easily made it through my day without needing to charge (pre-KitKat). I'm not an Apple fan, so am unlikely to switch away from Android. The trend to huge phones isn't making me very happy - I have a tablet, I don't need my phone to be giant!

I was planing on going to the Droid Maxx. Everything I've read about it sounds like it's a great phone and the battery life is phenomenal. The only thing is that I have till January before I'm eligible for my upgrade and I don't know what the availability of the Maxx will be then. Also the Maxx will be pushing two years old by then. I've noticed my M starting to get slower and glitchy the past couple of months, and after the last update the battery life has taken another hit.

I switched from my RAZR m to the droid mini. It's basically the same thing, with cheaper material, and moto x software. It's alright. I miss the Kevlar backing.

I had my eyes on a Moto X, but the wife doesn't like Moto cameras.
So, I got us both S4s, so that we could have the same nav dock in every car. It's a little big, coming from the M, and the radio isn't as good as a Moto, but otherwise it's awesome.

If I go prepaid: the new Moto G

If I stay Verizon.... Galaxy S5 or HTC One M8, possible HTC Remix for wife's Razr M

Back to my Moto X 2013. I don't think the 2014 size is to my liking SO I would be fine using the 2013 version. I am not really sure for an upgrade until December of 2015, so that is all I can pretty much can do without spending a bunch of money.

Plus I already still have Moto X cases so might as well get the phone back.

I am considering getting the LG G3, I loved the LG g2 I had before I was talked into getting this. I have always had good fortune with LG phones.

I jumped to the Samsung galaxy V and so far I'm loving it! aside from one little glitch where I forgot my alternate password and had to find out how to reset the password and restore the fingerprint scan protection... took me all of about 30 minutes to figure it out and I posted my experience to one of the other threads. I love the long battery life and responsivenss.

Moto and VZW have turned their backs on the now crippled RAZR M. I couldn't even stand to read the Moto forums for this once great phone anymore cuz it's a bunch of smoke and mirrors, no real support from the staff.

I've moved on to the new Moto X and I'm very happy with the size, comfort, and performance so far. Still may return it for the Droid Turbo once we see more about it on 10/28.

PS. Moto X (Verizon version) is on sale for half price through 10/20 at Motorola Website. Requires contact

What a great deal ... Too bad I'm still IN my contract.

Me too, I have decided to get an iPhone, I don't want to be left behind in updates again. I got left behind on the Droid Incredible 2 which was supposed to get ICS, but never got it, an not the Razr M is getting stuck on KitKat, and if you want a device to be supported for 2 years, you have to get a Nexus, which is now a phablet. So I am going to get an iPhone 6 an use that for a couple years. I love Android, but I don't like being left behind.

I hear ya. I don't like being left behind either - that's why I trust Jesus Christ to forgive all my sins...and though they are MANY, as the folks on here can attest, He forgives every single one.

Even the Galaxy Nexus on verizon has appeared to have been left on JellyBean. That is sad.. It's a friggin Nexus !. I may be inheriting my GF's Gnexus when she gets the S5 so I'll have that to play with until feb when my contract is up.

Just an update - Decided to go with Droid Turbo to replace my RAZR M. So far, very happy. Battery life has been great. It's bigger than I would like, but there weren't really any good options out there that weren't huge.

Here it is late January of 2015. After looking around at the huge and even lighter weight phones, I'm sticking with my Motorola Razr M. It is a great phone. I've kept the operating system updates current (I don't even remember what the latest one is called), and the phone works better than ever. I do stay on the alert for tweaking it so that unnecessary services don't run in the background to run down the battery, but that's something we have to do with any phone. Those who complained that the battery life was poor probably just didn't have things set correctly. I think as you pointed out, there is a trend to even larger smart phones. It's rather crazy. The size of the Razr M is good--not too big, thank goodness. It's bad enough holding a rectangular piece of glass up to our ears to talk (versus flip phones), but I'm sticking with the Razr M. This will be the longest I've held onto the same phone.
:)

My nexus is only 4,7 inches and is on the same version as all the other nexus phones.
