Any update on Oreo? 😥

Samsung are not the best one when it comes about software... Nokia, Sony HTC, OnePlus, Essential, already did the job. Who cares? Well me, when u pay for flagship u expect to treat you like have to. Yes I do care about the updates and new stuff. Others I would stay with my perfectly working htc one m8. Why do you even comments if u don't care for the updates?

February.

I for one actually want Oreo for one big reason.

LDAC support.

An official Oreo update hasn't been released by Essential yet.

Only Nokia, Sony, HTC and OnePlus have released a stable Oreo firmware update, with Nokia already doing an 8.1 beta

Release date just published. February 30th, 2018. You have my word on it!
That's funny! What makes it even more so is folks passing right by without catching on. Good job, you win the internet for today.

Sounds like you probably shouldn't buy phones from Samsung. Each one of those companies make good phones. Hopefully you find one that you enjoy.

i think note 8 on current software is at its best. what else oreo will bring ?

I have both the Note 8 and Pixel 2 XL and the subtle improvements in Oreo are keeping me from going back to the Note 8 for now. Those improvements may not mean a lot to some but I like them...for example, the nicer looking notifications, especially for media...

Other things I like are notification "dots", battery life is a tad better, auto-enable Wi-Fi, picture in picture (especially with Google Maps), App Shortcuts (think 3D Touch) is better in 8.1 than it ever was with 7x and TouchWiz.

These are enough to keep me on the Pixel for now until the Note 8 gets 8.1...it is going to be awesome on the Note 8.

Oreo for note 8 will not be released until some time after the S9 release date. Then you have the carrier waiting time after that. if you are on Verizon it will be about a month to 6 weeks after all the other carriers update the note 8.
Start looking for it after the Winter Olympics.

Would you not think that Samsung would HAVE to have Oreo ready for the Note8 before release of S9, after all the Note 8 is supposed to be the absolute flagship of their whole range

except for Sprint (misnomer) last at everything, even their important equipment upgrades, and of course, our phones. sigh.

There are no revolutionary features

On the Beta with my S8 and agree. Biggest thing for me is now being able to wake with OK Google from AOD, but you guys on the Note already have that, right? FWIW... Beta is smooth but battery still not as good as Nougat.

Because the updates are forced on us. I wouldn't care about the updates if I could refuse it. Yes I know you can keep hitting no, but then you keep getting harassed and eventually it just comes. Give me the option to just say no to OS updates.

Isnt that what rooting does? Ive never rooted a phone but that might be an option for you.

I don't root phones anymore. Rooting phones seems to just create more problems, it seemed like I was always having to tweak my phone. Just give us the option to refuse the update. Thanks

You could just turn off automatic updates and then bother with it.
