Any way to make wake up swipe shorter?

The phone will not wake up if i do a short swipe. I have to swipe almost the entire length of the screen to get it to wake up. I'm not talking about unlocking, for which I've set up a password. I mean when you tap the home button, you have to swipe to get to your homescreen.

I know this is trivial, but I'm used to the very short swipe on iPhone . It's a little more challenging to unlock the phone in one hand without shifting your grip. Just feels like it should be shorter.
