Any way to respond to Hangouts messages, from the watch?

i can do it for SMS but so far found no way for Hangouts, which is my primary messaging app.

unfortunately not yet...i too used hangouts for my primary messaging app, but once I started using the watch i switched back over to the boring ole stock app.

since it's google I assume there will be support soon!

Since Samsung broke away from Google by designing there own Tizen Os, maybe not.

Oh good grief. I found the solution: I had only been using the Notifications app on the watch; not the Messages app. There is a reply button on Hangouts messages, which brings up S-Voice to record a reply. I am surprised that no one here knew that it is easy to reply to Hangouts messages, from the watch.

I screwed up. One person sent me both hangouts and SMS messages and I got confused as to which one I was able to respond to...

Use messages rather than notifications. Reply button bottom left of message

But it only receives messages from messages app. No hangouts.

Check hangouts in notifications screen of gear manager

Are we talking about the same thing? The gear requires the messages app to be the default sms app. So in messages on gear it only has messages from the stock messaging app. So yes I have hangouts checked in gear manager but you only see hangouts messages in the notification of gear. The only option is to view on device there.

On my phone, hangouts includes SMS messages. I have no issues seeing both types of messages on the gear as well as being able to respond to both. not sure of how you have yours (messaging on phone) set up.

How do you get around the gear requiring messages to be default app? When I set hangouts as default and I go to messages on gear it says to set messages as default.

are you able to send pictured taken on the watch from the watch via the hangouts messaging...or is it grayed out like the sms counterpart?

I just discovered I was totally wrong about being able to respond from the watch to Hangouts messages. I edited my earlier comment regarding that.
