Any way to send an SMS to a group in ics?

I know I can add multiple people as recipients on an SMS, but I have a group set up I want to send to regularly.

Can it be done?

I recently had to send a group text and couldn't find a stock option to do so. Had to download Handcent.

I don't have a GN yet and haven't played around with 4.0 but i thought i remember seeing groups being in the people app.

Groups are in the people app, but I don't see any way to send a message to a group.

Yes I agree!

What's the point of being able to set up a group but have no way to contact everyone in it!

Can't you just type multiple names (autofill contact info) or numbers into the "To" field? That's what I do now. (running MIUI, which does have several enhancements over AOSP...)

Yes you could, but that's only useful for small lists. What if your list is 10+ people and you don't want to forget anyone in a regular SMS?
