Any way to turn off LTE on Galaxy S6 with AT&T?

Does anyone know if there's a toggle or way to turn off LTE data on the Galaxy S6 edge while keeping data connection? I have the AT&T version and there doesn't seem to be a way to toggle off LTE data and force 3G/HSPA data on this phone. My iPhone5 AT&T has that toggle to turn off LTE data. I find it helpful since I've noticed often that even with strong LTE signal, the data network is still congested. Turning off LTE on my iPhone usually sends me to 3G+ data and most of the time it gives me pretty good data speeds.

Yes. go into settings- connections- mobile networks-mobile data- and uncheck enhanced 4g LTE services. See if that gives you what your looking for

No that doesn't turn off LTE data at all. Just voice over LTE.

Did a quick search for you on the Play Store and there seem to be quite a couple of apps! The best one seems to be "4G LTE Switch". I don't think this is an inbuilt feature on the S6 (or any Samsung for that matter)

The testing settings for AT&T are still present. Go into the dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#*

From there click on device information and you can change it from there. GSM/CDMA (PRL) should do the trick if you're trying to run HSPA+

Only iPhones have the option to turn off LTE on AT&T.

Not true, my m8 can do it too. AT&T had been removing the toggle from the Galaxy line since the S4.

The LTE/GSM auto stayed red, seemed like you can't change it

Upon further inspection, some items you can select, while others do nothing and stay on the previous selection

Wrong option. It's GSM Auto. I just set it myself. It works. I think it kicks it over to WCDMA, too.

Thanks for sharing this. Good to know. Went in and tried a few different options.

Do you know what the original radio option was set to? I want to compare to the original settings and forgot which one I started with.

Anytime. It's LTE/GSM auto (PRL)

Just curious, have you found which radio connects to the 3G equivalent? I was only able to connect to what seemed to be the Edge network (about .02 mbs) which is a little too slow. LTE seems to be overkill and is tough on the battery. My last phone could just switch to 3G and had the "H" icon by the signal strength.

The LTE radios are efficient enough now that it really won't be much of a difference using it over HSPA+/3G. I'll look into which one it is, though.

This might help. Haven't tried it myself but in theory, it just might work. Where I live in Lebanon, once you purchase a 4G LTE compatible device, you have to request a new 4G LTE compatible SIM card from the local mobile network provider. My reverse deductible reasoning makes me conclude that if you request a SIM card that is NOT compatible with 4G LTE (if at all possible), your device will no longer keep trying to switch between 3G and 4G, but you lose the option of having 4G available in case you choose to use it. Like I said, it might work and it might not! It's a good idea to contact your mobile network provider and ask them for options. I'm about to purchase the Galaxy S6 soon and give it a try myself. Good luck!

Re: Any way to turn off LTE on Galaxy S6 with AT&T?

I live in Dubai and my service provider is Etisalat. Had a tough time figuring out how to deactivate VoLTE on my S6edge.

Finally got it. Go to settings, mobile network- here you have 4 options of which you will have option 1 selected (with LTE).
1. LTE/3G/2G (auto connect)
2. 3G/2G (auto connect)
Select option 2 (without LTE).
