Any word on ics

My wishes for possible improvement with ICS :

-more home screens than the stock "5"
-a better calender widget
-a better time and weather widget.

Other than that, I love the phone.

Any word on if we will be able to take screen shots with ics?

I'm thinking it needs to hurry and come out so the faster there will be a way to root it. I don't want to get a new phone, root it, then have to unroot it for an update and then wait to be able to root it again.

I know on my Droid 2 the update window would not stop popping up even though I was rooted and it wouldn't install. I'm not dealing with that again.

From what I have been told at my job, soak test started 3 weeks ago and the target for ics is 3rd week of this month.

Well another day....no update....back to the same old same ol

If the 24th was legit wouldn't we expect to hear about a soak test by now??

I'd say yes... since the last soak test ran at least 2-3 days before they released it to the public.

Just stay calm... and wait... I'm sure some will post information about the soak test, even though they are not suppose to, and we will see it soon.

Someone has to say it. Doesn't soaking void the warranty? :P

I don't want to come off as Negative Nancy here, but I swear there's little reason that it should take Google this long to push out a new OS. I understand there's delays that are "out of their control" thanks to various manufacturer skins and carriers, but I am pretty certain they could put a little pressure on Verizon and Moto to get this thing done. I love my Maxx the way it is, but it's annoying to be told it will be updated, and then they wait until Android 5.0 is released.

The update isn't pushed out from Google.

Google gives the source code to the manufacturer to update their phones, mfg sends to carrier for testing. Once it passes the carrier testing it is sent out to end users (I'm sure I skipped a few steps, but close enough). The carrier may pass it on the 1st go around or it may take 20 versions, who knows.
