Anybody buy a Pixel 3 somewhat recently (3-6 months)?

I bought a Pixel 3 last week from Amazon. Serial number starts with the digits "89." The first digit is the year. (8 = 2018). The next digit is month. 1-9 for Jan to Sept, A-C for Oct to Dec. So my Pixel 3, purchased September 2019, has a manufacture date of September 2018.

Could anybody else who has bought a Pixel 3 in the last 3-6 months or so check out your serial number and let me know the first 2 digits? I'm just curious if I should try to return/exchange this one and get one with a more recent production date.

My Pixel 3 has the well reported green/white screen flickering issue and the speaker buzz issue, so I am hoping that a more recent production date might be less likely to have those issues.

Got a Pixel 3XL 64 GB from the Google store on the 4th of September, 1st 2 numbers 96 also
Both made in China

Are you concerned about something specific with respect to your device being manufactured last year? If you didn't buy it refurbished, it's theoretically been sitting pretty in a box on Amazon's shelf that whole time.

Well, I'm concerned that the phone has two of the issues that have been widely reported and that might be hardware related (the screen flickering and the speaker buzzing). I was thinking it's at least possible that devices manufactured more recently are less likely to have those issues. My September 2018 device was probably one of the first few production batches.

My serial number is nine digits and the first three are 8A9. All the rest are letters.

No, both are working fine. I've been lucky with the Pixel phones.

I think it means made in Oct 2018. See 1st paragraph in OP

I wouldn't stress about it. If you have either of these issues, you should have a manufacturer warranty for a year after purchase. And returns on Amazon are especially easy.
For the record, I've not seen any news that a certain lot lot of devices had fixed the issue, so I'm not necessarily sure a newer device would prevent it from happening to yours.

Anyone remember the tech refresh for the Nexus 4? That made it into media circulation.
