Anybody get a G6 after having S8? (Update: I got the G6)

What are some of your battery life stats? That's my main hold up about buying the G6.

I get anywhere from 4.5 to 5.5 hours of sot with g6. I was getting about the same on the s8+ but the last 3 days I used the s8 I got 6.75, 7 and 7.5 hours.

Well... so far, my wife's appears to be doing pretty good... the battery metrics based on both Accubattery and GSAM show estimated SOT in the high 5's (5:45+) over the course of a 24h charging cycle. Which is pretty good if you ask me.

She came from an S7 Edge, which had slightly different stats... 5h SOT estimated over 36 hours. Now, SOT vs time between charging is always a balancing act of course, since one affects the other. So that extra 12 hours could mean the difference between 5 hours and 5:45... dunno. But needless to say that it's performing quite well... anything over 5 with 24+ hours between charges is really good.

So many pluses!! Solid construction, amazing camera...even better than I expected...and it is very responsive and feels like a merge between Pixel and iphone.

I think many people expect dslr quality from a smartphone camera. It's just not going to happen. If a person is relying on a smartphone camera every day for all of their pictures, then maybe they should consider a real dslr camera.

I do also agree with Marques Brownlee when he says the best camera is the one that you have on you. So that means that almost everyone has a smartphone with a decent camera on it available at a moment's notice. Most of the pictures that we snap in the moment when we want to catch them aren't going to be photos or videos that are professional quality that's going to win us any awards. Most of us will shoot the majority of these quick moments in auto. When we have time, we'll switch to manual to get the best results.

Do we all need manual camera controls? No, not all of us. But it's nice to have that option should the moment arise that warrants the use of it.

In my opinion, it really comes down to preference when it comes to picture quality on auto mode. Each flagship will produce fairly similar and excellent results. Of course there's more to a smartphone than just the camera. This is why it's difficult to choose the perfect phone for yourself. There always seems to be a sacrifice somewhere.
I do believe that the G6 is overall my favorite and the closest to being the perfect smartphone for me.

Perfectly said.

So happy to be back!

I went from the G6 to the S8 and now back to the G6 today. I am returning the S8 due to red tint on the screen and no fix. Anyway, I love the G6. I'm sorry I stepped away and got swept up with the S8. Glad im back. The G6 is a win for LG this year.

I got the S8 originally all the while thinking about LG....and wow I'm glad I could return the s8!

Honestly, if it hadn't been for the red tint issue, I wouldn't have come back, but I did miss this phone and didn't realize how much until I fired this new one up.

Besides the red...there are various things that aren't perfect! This screen is so much better!

I'm thinking maybe you had a bad s8. Most people including displaymate say the s8 has the best screen ever produced. I enjoy the G6 much more, but the screen is not better.
