Anybody going to Switch to S5 from Note 3?

Ha go the Note
In fact I am not even bothering with the N3 will jump straight from N2 to N4
Scope the N3 forums for info now & then like 4.4 update impact on SD cards was doing just then
I use S pen all the time so going non Note is not on for me
Skipped N3 cause cannot justify best part of a grand to buy outright

The Note series is based off of the S series.
One isn't necessarily better than the other, but when each is released, they're superior (in terms of specs) than the other. For example, the Note 3 was released about 6 months after the S4, and it had better specs. 6 months later, we will see the S5 released, and that has better specs than the Note 3, etc.

HUH? The only internal specs of the S5 that are better than the Note 3 is the .2 bump in processor speed. I will take 3GB ram over a .2 speed increase any day. Sure, it's a newer proc but that doesn't equate it to be better....just newer. Now some of the external features are nice like water/dust resistance and 16MP camera with OIS but finger print scanner is a wash in my book.

Staying with my Note 3 until Note 4 is announced. If the Note 4 is only a minor bump up (like the S5 is to the S4), then I'll more than likely just hold out another year all together. I'm really quite happy with the Note 3. Our current Note is more than likely to eventually get most if not all of the software updates (the ones not dependant on hardware), though it may take until this time next year. Only thing that would make me jump to Note 4 quickly is a greatly upgraded camera and it'll be months before there's any real verdict on the S5 module which will likely make it into the Note 4 as well. More megapixels isn't an upgrade to me, it better have much better overall capabilities. Disappointed there's no OIS in the module, so we'll need to see what the dedicated ISP is capable of and if it can make up the difference.
I don't see how the S5 is a minor upgrade to the S4. Fingerprint sensor, faster processor than the Note 3, HRM, and a plethora of other add on's and yet it's a minor bump up? Really? If the Note 4 is the same "minor bump" up to the Note 3, I'll buy 2. Amazing that the world ends when Apple moves from a 5 to a 5S with no perceptible benefit, but when Samsung goes from an S4 to an S5 with some real upgrades, it's a minor bump up...gee.

Fingerprint scanner is huge - if you use password or PIN, the scanner is a huge upgrade. It will be on the Note 4 I'm sure and I'd buy it just for that feature alone.

Thus pretty much sums up the argument going on in this thread. The S5 is a improvement in the S line for sure, and even an upgrade to the Note series. But that isn't the point, the S series and Note series are meant to be different. When I see the complaints about how the S5 isn't that great, it's silly because it's like those people believe every Rumor they heard and expected a miracle phone. Like the article points out, phones are not going to be making the leaps and bounds the once did, they focused on the complaints coming from the masses and not the techies like that read these forums. I bet the Note 4 will have a ton a people complaining too when it comes out about how much of a disappointment it is as well, because again, people will expect miracles, just like I saw people complaining about how the Note 3 was only minor upgrade from the S4.

I was curious about the S5 but from what I've seen so far, No Way I would trade in my Note 3!

"Size does matter!"

Not me. I love the larger screen and would never downsize. S pen doesn't really matter as I never use it

Speak for yourself :). I ain't hating on the S5 because "it's the new thing"... I simply said I like my Note 3 better than I like how the S5 sounds. Bigger screen is something I've come to love and I also like the bigger battery and love the S-Pen for drawing on screenshots and such. So I'll wait for the Note 4.

I have a Galaxy S3 right now. I like it, but am due for an upgrade. I'm really debating if I should wait for the S5 or get a Note 3 now.

I was going to get a s5 but after seeing the note a few times im getting it 4 sure...The s5 with the 16MP cam,kit kat, a little better touchwiz is ok but lacking the 32GB storage, 3 GB of ram, 5.7 inch screen size thats on the note..Eh yea go for the note bro

I was referring to the people that were disappointed in the S5 because they seem to bought into the rumors to much. I probably won't switch because I like the bigger screen. Again, some people seem to think the S5 was going to be some kind of miracle device.

For me I won't switch again because I like the SPen and the bigger screen. I am more looking at again from the standpoint that people expect these miracle phones from Samsung now. The industry was bound to slow down eventually, and it has.

No. It's not that people thought it would be a "miracle device", but rather something better all around. See, the only thing that makes it better than the S4 is the proc. Going from a SD 600 to the SD 801 is a nice bump. BUT, they kept it at 16GB internal. Come on. That's ridiculous. Only a .1 increase in screen size. Why didn't they just leave it at 5"? They could have at least bumped it to 5.2" or used a 2K screen. Plastic still with a hideous dimpled back. No wireless charging built in. Why?? I know, cause they want you to buy it for a premium....

Pick any one of those and add it to the S5 and people would love it. But they left ALL that out. Some of them for no reason at all.

+1 The reason why i love the note is because its a better all-around overall device..The S5 has

16GB of storage
2GB of ram
5.1 inch screen
2800 mAh battery

Those are pretty big letdowns for a s5

The S5 could of been better but it's not all bad some nice tweaks and features, again some pointless ones as well but that's the Samsung way.

It can't and shouldn't be compared to the Note 3 two very different lines. That said when you have the Note 3 on a 5.7" display, 2.3ghz, 3gb Ram, and 32gb base storage that will entice more than than the S5.

They Should of bumped it up to 5.2" why even bother with the 5.1"?

They should of had 32gb as base storage.

They should have put a little more thought into design.

They should of added OIS.

But the positives are the power saving modes.

The 16mgp camera but to early to tell if it's any better than the 13mgp on the S4 (I'm sure it will be)

The download speed improvements.

The 2.5ghz processor.

The tweaked UI is a step in the right direction but keep trying Samsung.

I heard the reason it didn't opt for the 64bit chip was because of android not being optimised to support it? Also a contradiction to that I also read the a variant will be made with a 64bit chip (appy geek)

Overall it's not bad and it's certainly an upgrade just they could of tried that bit more and implemented more thought.

Have a S3 now with an upgrade coming in Sept. Hoping the N4 will n
be out by then. Will probably be everything the S5 is plus S pen.
