I'm curious to see if anyone has seen or heard anything interesting about research into battery advancements. It's painfully obvious that cell phones, tablets, computers etc. are advancing rapidly, but the batteries that power them are rapidly becoming outdated, as seen by how quickly these devices drain the battery (unfortunately our beloved Tbolt is guilty of this). If you have seen or heard anything please post below, and if possible post a link I would love to read up on any interesting finds.

Here's one I found, it actually talks about reducing the size of the wires in phones that carry the charge to reduce the burden on the battery, while it's not an advancement in batteries themselves, its speculated that it would improve battery life substantially.

Here's another one I found, maybe hope for advancements by 2012?

I'm old enough to have watched battery advancement for small personal electronics go from standard flashlight cells, to alkaline cells, to NiCad and now to Lithium-Ion. I think the next notable advancement will be some other type of chemical. Don't know what.
