Anybody switch from Moto X ---> LG G2 ?? Do you miss active notifications and touchless control??

Re: Anybody switch from Moto X ---> LG G2 ?? Do you miss active notifications and touchless control

I just bought a Moto X and am still within my window to exchange and I considered this (and still am). But with software updates being notoriously slow and this being what I would think would be a pretty complicated feature to implement (maybe I'm wrong - I do understand that the processor supports it though), how likely would you think it would be that LG would eventually roll this out, and what kind of timeframe would be realistic? Also, any active displays on the G2's LCD screen would kill the battery, would it not?

I'm in my car a lot, so the touchless stuff is what sold me on the Moto X over the specs of the G2. But if the G2 could do the same thing within a realistic time frame (6 month ideally) then it's a no-brainer. The question just becomes one of tradeoffs and realistic possibilities of doing so.

I too am interested in hearing why people chose to exchange the X after trying it out. Did it not perform up to par or did you just miss the beefy specs?

I use Dragon Mobile Assistant. It is touch free and has more features than the X. Like, if you get a text messaging while driving you can actually respond without touching your phone. You can't do that on the X. It runs in the background just like the X software and does not use anymore battery. I only use it when I am driving but it will do everything the X does except the "Call my Droid" feature which I think is really stupid anyway. How many people lose their phones on a regular basis and need to call it to find it? The G2 blows the X away in every category except size. If you want a small phone, get the X.

Re: Anybody switch from Moto X ---> LG G2 ?? Do you miss active notifications and touchless control

I had thought of this too but thought Dragon was notoriously bad on the battery. So it's not? Seems like it got a lot of negative feedback on battery life, one I read even talked about battery drain from just being installed without much use.

If it gets good battery life then I agree it is most definitely a worthy replacement to Motorola Assist, which I've already had trouble with.

I'm back and forth. Found carrier IQ on my att g2. Disgusted with that I might return it.

So buy the carrier unlocked version then . Problem solved , no logo. To say the most hideous in tech is pretty funny. Can't say I've payed a bit of attention to a little logo on the phone.

Obviously the logo didn't bother me enough to sway me from buying the phone. As my post said I picked up the AT&T version and am in love with it. But yes, while it may not bother you, some people don't like branding all over the front of their phone. I can live with it on the back such as the LG logo on the Nexus. Doesn't bother me enough ruin the experience. Like I said, minor nitpick.

same here. Digging the G2 a little more though thanks to the battery life, screen, and camera. I"ve probably switched my sim back and forth (with a nano to micro adapter of course) 10 times this week. Cant go wrong with either.

Keep trying to cure myself but it only gets worse. I think I've narrowed it down to just keeping the G2 and Lumia 1020 though. Gotta unload the x, One, Nexus 4 and iPhone 5 in the near future or the wife might kill me.

Aggie, is the camera on the Lumia as good as some say? How does it compare to the G2?

I know how you feel. Had the One, N4 and the GS4. Just got the G2. To me its much better than the S4 which is sadly headed to ebay......

1020 camera is in a league of its own. If I could use w Windows phone device as my daily driver that might cure my phone addiction. Sadly I find myself missing android every time I use it. Great vacation device though.

I wouldn't call a sanpdragon 800 quadcore, 3000mah battery and a 13 mp camera with OIS a gimmick. maybe the buttons on the back are for some, but every review ive read said they ended up liking that feature.

Re: Anybody switch from Moto X ---> LG G2 ?? Do you miss active notifications and touchless control

Not an LG fan. So, I wouldn't even look at one. Why put the buttons on the back of the phone. Dumb. Moto X is simple, easy to use and that's what people want. Not a bunch of gimmicks.

Buttons on the back?! what buttons?! Oh those... I never use em... Knock On Ftw..
All i see is my breathtaking 5.2" screen with minimal bezels

Re: Anybody switch from Moto X ---> LG G2 ?? Do you miss active notifications and touchless control

I switched from the Droid maxx and I can say that I do not regret it one bit! The battery isn't as good but gets through a full day easily and I also really missed the led notification light. The active display was ok, but every time I barely moved it would turn on and it kinda bugged after a while lol just my opinion here. You got a great device!

You need to use the phone for more than 5 minutes... best phone period. buttons on the back don't even matter. knock on is the coolest feature. As far as volume... i always use volume control in the app...

Re: Anybody switch from Moto X ---> LG G2 ?? Do you miss active notifications and touchless control

I missed it enough I went back. The active display is just too useful

The LG G2 1080p and screen size. If the G2 had all of moto x feature it would be the best phone on the market. Waiting for the new Moto X.
