I currently have a Photon and I'm considering making the jump. Any overall observations or annoyances coming from the Photon?

I upgraded from the Photon and I am happy that I did. Everything about it is better, especially battery life.

I'm very tempted! Although I keep hearing about signal issues. Have you guys noticed a difference in signal between the Photon and the Evo?

Coming from the Photon, I don't think there's a single thing that the EVO doesn't do better or faster than the Photon. And the screen...let me tell you, I didn't realize just how bad the Photon screen was till I played with the EVO. Simply amazing! As far as reception goes, your mileage may vary. I'm in the north west corner of Fort Worth TX, and sprint signal here is spotty and slow. As far as any difference between the two phones, the EVO seems to do better and does more than the Photon could with what terrible signal we have here. I get maybe one or two more signal strength bars, but data quality and speed haven't changed much. I tend to get between .01Mbs and 0.5Mbs. Although, later at night I've actually gotten 1.2Mbs on this EVO, something the Photon was never able to achieving here. This phone is buttery smooth and fast. Like any new phone from any manufacturer these days, it has some minor quirks. Most of them can easily be fixed or worked around should you want to. Rooting this phone is super easy. There's several replacement launchers on the market that work great on this phone. ( Nova Prime is just right for me.) And give it a couple weeks, I'm sure HTC will also have their own software updates/ fixes. My suggestion is go to a corporate store and try it out yourself. Trust me, you won't regret it. If anything, play with the camera and you'll see a huge improvement in quality and ease of use compared to the Photon.

well, yeah, Photon peripherals where nice. I miss the car dock. Tried to reuse the cable it came with because it has the aux audio out built into it, but won't work with the EVO. Have to plug the 3.5mm audio cable into the headphone jack every time. Annoying, but meh. Wish they'd come out with the Ubunto web top and Lap dock for the Any Android croud. Saw a pretty cool looking MacBook Air look alike on the android news sites this week. No sign of price or availability. I guess mirror mode on MHL and Bluetooth keyboard and mouse will have to do for now. Otherwise I couldn't be happier.:D

I gave my Photon away and bought the epic touch 4g. Not really interested in the new Evo. Will be giving away this epic as soon as I can get the s3.

I'm staying away from Samsung phones. Had nothing but bad luck with them. Great hardware, and looks like they're doing somewhat better with updates and bug fixes, but every one I had , had weak radios. Not bad radios, just weak. Same goes for their GPS. I haven't had as many issues with HTC. The Photon was a pretty decent phone once I changed the launcher, messaging app, and added beautiful Widgets to it. The stock launcher had a very slow frame rate so it made things look laggy and choppy. Scrolling thru text took a while to get used to due to the pen tile matrix. My wife was all for taking it off my hands because of all the things I could do with it...till she played with it for about fifteen minutes and complained it made her eyes and head hurt. I kinda had the same reaction when I first got it, but got used to it after some time. So far, this is the best phone I've had so far. There's only two thing I wish I could change in it, the way it multi tasks, and the ram. Wish it had come with two gigs like Sammy's SGS III. applications are becoming very memory hungry. So much so that I'm constantly having to clear cache on my wife's EVO Shift just to keep it going somewhat smooth. Even the Photon would lock up on me once in a while du to running out of ram with very minimal background apps running. The SGS III looks to be a really good phone. Was hoping they had time with the super amoled + screen. Although the pen tile screen on the Gnex wasn't bad at all. Just didn't seem very bright, even at its Max setting. The other thing that I wasn't digging was the tint it seems to have, I've seen them with greenish, blueish, and even yellowish tints, and always somewhat dim. The screen on the EVO LTE is very bright, colors are fairly accurate, and no tint. I love that I can see it very well in direct sunlight. And trust me the sun is very bright here in Texas. Trust me tho, I still drool every time I see postings of Sammy's devices, just haven't had the best luck with them myself. When you get it, I hope you post your results. I'd really like to see the comparisons.
