Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

Give it time, I have the same case. People arent understanding my point. I had an S3 that I dropped well over 100 times, NO CRACKS what so ever. This phone cracked with the simpliest of drops. Yeah yeah, its glass and it can crack, blah blah blah...Yes that is a true statement but all Im saying is the design of this phone IS FLAWED. Way too many reports of the phone cracking even without a drop. I feel Samsung could have done a better job than to make a design that is so exposed to a cracked screen and then add a $300 bill to fix it. This is an S7 model, not an S2....they should get better and better not worse...

People complained about the plastic build of Galaxy devices... Now you have glass and people complain too... You can't really please everyone. I will agree that the s7 is easier to crack than the s3, but the s7 is a sleeker design. If they made it plastic like the s3 then people would complain too.

If you want a phone that won't crack, get the x force which can handle a 900 foot drop without cracking the screen.

Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

But perhaps glass back is a poor design choice? I see no advantage aesthetically nor practically. The curved choice IS an aesthetic one that makes a huge difference in appearance and one could logically argue it is worth the risk. That said, it is obvious that curved glass is delicate so it must be a risk you are willing to take. I think the s7 should be the same size so you have the option of a medium sized phone with a flat screen.. And a plastic back if I had my way.

Depends from person to person. Samsung was reacting to the majority -- and that was people complaining of ugly/cheap plastic phones. Most like the look now so you have to give or take somewhere. I wouldn't count it was a poor design choice since you cannot make every single person happy. To me stuff that is "poor design choice" is the iPhone antenna gate because the thing is meant to be a phone .. Have a dropped call simply by holding it in hand was a big flaw.

See my highlight. Yours is an opinion that I do not share. Neither do millions of others (presumably) that have bought and kept the phone.

The phone is not rated to withstand one single drop. NOT ONE. If someone drops the phone and it does not crack then they should count themselves lucky.

Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

I agree that is worse... But I never heard any big demand for glass back. Most wanted metal imo but that screws up wireless charging. I never read a single post saying a glass back would make a phone look better... Until it happened. Once people BUY the phone many will defend anything about it.

It's funny to say glass is so much nicer looking followed immediately by I wouldn't leave the store without a case!

They demanded a better looking phone.. And most agree it is better. Perfect? Nothing ever will be. Some want metal but then you can't have wireless charging. You could find a "flaw" in every design.. But it won't be a flaw to those who don't share that opinion.

Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

OK. I think most are speaking of the front of the phone. I think it is a gorgeous phone but the glass back would do nothing for me even it it weren't fragile. It reminds me of the volume buttons on the back of the LG phones. Different to be different. I was thrilled they got rid of them until I found out they also shrunk the G5 and put in a tiny battery. I look forward to a tougher design in the back of Sammy phones in the future.

The glass back wouldn't stop me from buying the edge7 nor the Note 6 (which I intend to buy at this point). I am clumsy and prefer a more robust design but Sammy is by far the best Android has to offer so I will buy a good case and hope for the best.

Just as some may have influenced Sammy to put a glass back on I hope to be among those to let it go as LG has let go of the silly back buttons.

I love the looks of the edge 7 but I know I would break it so I am holding off for the note 6. If edge 7 had been plentiful the first week I would have one by now!

Nope we see your point. But the S3 had plastic sides and back, which bends and absorbs impact better. Which is why Samsung stuck with plastic for so long. But you know what? People hated it. Enough that Samsung started losing customers at the S4 and S5 stages. Losing customers to Apple who made glass backed phones that were fragile, so much that it's a running joke that they came out of the box cracked (until the 4S I think. They started metal back in the 5). Samsung decided, hey most people don't care about fragile phones. They made a glass sandwich (S6) like the 4S because they can't use a metal back for wireless charging and won awards and had great sales. So yeah, newer phones are much more fragile externally because people want them to be pretty, not durable. Glass is really easy to break. You can't make them unbreakable, only shatter proof. But they're pretty.

In your case, what I would not understand why you did not put your phone in a case, knowing full well that it is a fragile glass device. But actually Samsung thought of users like you to, hence they released the S6 and S7 Active phones. These are basically S6 and S7 whose bodies are built like tanks. Polycarbonate and rubberized to withstand shocks and falls. These things are military grade fall proof.

Seens really you just bought the wrong phone. The S7 is not for a clumsy person who drops his phones hundreds of times.

Edit: Regarding the give it time bit, yes given time people probably will break the phone, but they're unlikely to sue Samsung for it, like majority of the people here who responded to you and said that. It would be my fault if the phone breaks, and not Samsung. Besides, most people put their phones in cases anyway.

Personally, my favorite Samsung back is the faux leather on the Note 4. No idea why Samsung didn't go with that though. So I put the OEM leather back case on my Edge. 😊

For those who want a more rugged s7, then Samsung will make a s7 active.

But like the s6 and s6 active, I am guessing that the active model sales numbers would be a very tiny fraction of what the regular s6 model is.

Samsung did market research before hand... And determined that a sleek compact design would sell way more than a rugged design.

Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

No one buys a glass phone expecting it to go through hell and back and come back unscathed. You said you dropped your S3 over 100 times, but you fail to recognize that that phone was half plastic. The S7 is not even remotely plastic. Dropping it once is chancy, but dropping it repeatedly pretty much guarantees that it's going to break. You just happened to be unlucky with the first drop. You want to sue Samsung over something that should be common sense? You should have bought a heavy duty case, since it's evident that you are the most careless person on the face of the Earth. Next thing you know, you're going to shoot yourself in the foot and say, "I'm going to sue (insert gun company here) because my gun went off when I pulled the trigger". Puh-lease.

^^^ Zero drops are good.

Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

Dropped once and did not break. About 3 ft on tile floor. Finally got an otterbox for it. I wish they would go back to plastic or metal backing. No need to have glass back.

Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

Anyone know of a good glass screen protector for the s7 edge? Cant find one that has good reviews.

Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

Hmmm, with a user name like ScrewedbySamsung, I wonder if you're really here for the result of such a question or to just stir the pot....
Any phone you drop will have the chance of cracking the screen. It depends on angle of impact, the surface it hits, drop distance, etc. If you don't put a case on your phone, you're running a much higher risk of it being cracked on a drop. A sharp corner impact literally sends all the force into the device at a single point. Four feet to cement on the corner might just cause a shatter regardless of what device it is. I've knocked mine off a table and had a dog knock it off a dresser. No damage, but it has a case and didn't land on a surface that had potential outcroppings to impact the screen. As for reading horror stories, of course that's what you find when you go looking at forums for broken screen reports. People who drop their phones onto parking lots on a regular basis tend to gripe when they crack. The majority of users don't crack their screens so they don't post horror stories. If you're running around with it in your back pocket, you could also be asking for trouble depending on how much curvature there is and how tight your pants are. (Seriously, think about it.) You bend wrong and forces are dispersed across the frame of your phone and the screen. Bad things may happen. I've read your posts and I think you're just unlucky or a troll. I've had an S6 Edge since it was launched in an Incipio case (way better than Spigen in my opinion) and now have the same model case on my S7 Edge. I keep it in my front pocket where it isn't going to get accidentally sat on.

Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

I was on another forum earlier and was reading all kinds of horror stories about how the screens on these phones are cracking at nothing. I wanted to share my experience in hopes of getting the word out before it happens to you or to discourage people from buying this piece of junk.

Two weeks after buying and treating this thing like a piece of Gold, I get out of my car, drop the phone about a foot from the ground and the screen is shattered. I had an S3 and I dropped that phone at least 100 times and its still as good as new. I think Samsung should stand behind their $800 product and give some customer support as Iphone would if they developed a defective product. This phone has issues and Samsung is NOT stepping up to the plate and backing it.

Please share you experiences with your phone as i would like to start a Class action lawsuit to force Samsung to fix their faulty product.

What exactly do you mean by Samsung standing behind their product? Did Samsung drop it? Or did you? What exactly is the engineering fault here? Did they advertise it as unbreakable? Did they coerce you into dropping it? Are they extorting you, telling you that if you don't drop the phone you're phone will get a virus? What exactly did Samsung do in this specific case that would show cause for litigation for you as an individual and what evidence do you have that they did the exact same illegal thing on a widespread basis?

Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

So buy a case if you plan to be careless with your phone and drop it.

Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

Many People equate plastic with cheap. Name one 2016 smartphone(or rumored) sold for $600+ that is made of plastic. Besides the Samsung phone that I posted about earlier, I can't think of any. So your options are metal or glass, for premium smartphones, other than rugged stuff, which most would criticize as too bulky. And metal doesn't allow for wireless charging.

Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

The problem is the trend of not accepting the consequences of your own actions and the use of frivolous lawsuits to try to get something for nothing.

Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

That's why I bought S7 *chuckles*

Re: Anyone dropped their S7 Edge and it didnt Crack??!?!?!

Haven't dropped it yet, but the first time I held it I knew it was going to be the first phone I ever needed to take out insurance on.
