Anyone else disappointed by the GS4's camera?

I just got the s4 a week ago, coming from the gs3. I noticed a couple things that I thought the s3 did better or about the same as the s4. The camera is the biggest disappointment so far. I SWEAR that I was getting better pictures on the gs3 than the s4. More detail, less blurry photos, and a couple other areas but mainly it's the lack of sharpness and clarity that's bugging me. On the s3 I usually would be able to get a good picture, zoom in a bit, and still have good detail when zoomed in. But with this phone even the pics I manage to get that are crisp, become very soft and fuzzy when I zoom in even a little bit. Anyone else notice this or anything similar with the camera?

This will show what an ***** I am, but oh well. I came from an iPhone 5 and was very disappointed with the S4 camera...... Until I realized that I had to remove the perfectly placed small plastic cover that was only covering the camera lens!!! I had a larger clear protective cover over the entire back of the phone as well.

Yes, it is only you. My brother has an S3 and his pictures dont come close to mine. And theres a thread about this already.

Like irishleo said, make sure to take the plastic off that covers the ring around the camera. I'm not sure that it actually makes a difference, but it can't hurt. Also, did you alter any of the camera settings on the phone or are you using the default settings? I find that using the default settings gives me great pictures. I read somewhere that enabling certain settings like anti-shake and face recognition can cause poorer quality photos. Can't remember where I read it though.

Here are a few tips:
First, open up the camera and hit the settings button. One of the first things you'll probably want to do is change the photo size. By default, the Galaxy S4 ships with the photo size set to 9.6 megapixels with a 16:9 aspect ratio. This is a nice aspect ratio for video, but not quite so much for photos. For better quality, you can set the size to 13 megapixels, which uses the more common 4:3 aspect ratio.

You can also change Burst shot, Face detection, Metering, ISO, Anti-Shake and Auto night detection settings here. Off all of them, ISO can be one to pay attention to. With lower ISO settings, your pictures may be darker, but they'll be far more crisp and sharp. As you turn up the ISO, you can take photos in lower light settings, but at the cost of introducing visual noise to your photos.

Yeah, I think you might be doing something that could be improved... Also, take a look at the Photos thread here, you'll see... The S4 camera is FAR from disappointing.
