Anyone else encountering EXTREMELY SLOW data speeds on VMusa OV?

Re: Anyone else encountering EXTREMELY SLOW data speeds on VMusa

When most people average 256kbps, how is throttling going to deter people from using tons of data? Throttling doesn't help the network nor does it deter people from using data...

Apparently that user is taking his ball and going home. /shrug.

It's funny that his plan is to move to ATT and pay MORE for throttled/capped data...

Re: Anyone else encountering EXTREMELY SLOW data speeds on VMusa

I think that HE thinks that its a 2.5GB CAP.....when its actually a THROTTLE when you REACH 2.5GB. You still get unlimited data, its just slower after 2.5GB of download. Why do people get CAP and THROTTLE mixed up?

BTW....I now get D/L speeds of around 320k after the re-activation. ^_^
MUCH better than the 20k I was getting.

Personally I think he was just trying to incite some reactions. But didnt expect somebody to tell him he was a idiot. He does claim to understand.

I'm getting around 10kb/s download speeds for the past 4 days  usually get at least 180kb/s, this is ridiculous!

 Why doesn't he just switch to Sprint if he wants "Unlimited" data? AT&T is definitely not the answer to his data overusage. Sure, after 2.5GB they just throttle, but what's the point of using more if you're capped at 10kbps.

Re: Anyone else encountering EXTREMELY SLOW data speeds on VMusa

What's really backwards is that it actually costs carriers more money per KB when users are using 2G/3G than it does using 4G which is why there's such a big push for LTE. So carriers that downgrade user speeds and/or don't offer 4G are only shooting themselves in the foot instead of making their customers happy.

You wont be knocked down that slow. For most people they will never notice the difference. Currently unless your very lucky your speeds arent close to 3g daily.

Also I think he wanted to get people riled up. And truly didnt understand how the throttling was going to work. Once it was pointed out he felt stupid and tried to cover his tracks but at that point it was too late.

Has anyone tried changing servers? That's what I did and works details enter for me. Just ran test and FL was 1700 or so... haven't figured out how to post screenshot yet sorry....

You can change servers in the speed test app, but not when using the web... at least i dont think

I'm typically getting speedtest.net results of:

* ping latency from 200-1000ms
* Download speeds from 2kbps to around 500kbps, with typical speeds from 8kbps-100kbps (with lots of timeouts)
* Upload speeds from 2kbps to 250kbps, with typical speeds around 8-100 (with again lots of timeouts)

Ridiculous.

I called VM, of course the first thing he wants me to do is delete all my apps, then factory reset. I was getting consistent 8 to 50 kbps speeds. I agreed to delete some of my applications and the first test resulted in 150kbps. He was like, "See there, it is great now!" I'm like, "Dude, it was one test. Let's test again" -- which resulted in three timeouts, then a 30kbps download.

The second tier guy says, "Oh gosh, you are in a 4G neighborhood! Don't you want to upgrade to our newly priced Evo 4G?" I'm like, "Hey, if you get this fixed, then I'll upgrade. But why would I expect any better performance out of the promises of the Evo?" He says, "Oh, because 4G isn't saturated yet."

Well, to that I'd agree.

For nearly the same price, I'm looking to get a S2 or Galaxy Nexus and Tmo 4G.
