Anyone else experiencing freezing?

It usually happens when I'm running Dolphin Browser and maybe have tapatalk running in the background. I've noticed when I stop watching a video, I'll try to open the task switcher and it will be frozen. I'm pretty OCD about not having too many apps running in the switcher so I can't imagine that a flagship phone can't handle what I'm throwing at it when I'm very anal about what programs I have open.

I have checked app manager right after it happens and don't notice anything that looks too out of the ordinary. Any suggestions on what I should be looking for? I haven't had this issue today so far. It happened twice yesterday and once I pulled the battery because it was frozen so badly. This just seems ridiculous that this is happening on this device, which is supposed to be a top of the line smartphone.

i think you got an app issue. since it's dolphin that is causing the phone to freeze. stop using it and see what happens.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing so I've decided not to use it anymore to test my theory. I did use it a bit last night to copy some bookmarks over to my other browser but then stopped using it. I'll keep everyone posted. I haven't had any issues yet today.

Two things I found and fixed.

1. Electronic gear does not respond well to static in the environment. For this a purchased a good case. OtterBox Defender.

2. I installed All-In-One Toolbox and used this app to clear junk on the device once a day.

The above eliminated the issue for me.

As an aside I tried the ART route and on my S5 it was horrid. Not rooted.

Nice job.Thank you for your sharing.

So it's not Dolphin browser that us causing the issue. I completely uninstalled the app and still got the same freezing issue last night. Now I'm testing to see if it was my weather widget that is causing it. God, this is irritating. Like I said, I like everything about this phone but this freezing crap is a complete joke.

I would try factory reset and remove sd card if it makes a difference.

Factory reset does nothing. I've already tried both a factory reset and pulling the SD card and it didn't make any difference.

I think it may be this weather widget. I've been pushing the phone to see if I could recreate the issue and it's been running perfectly since I've gotten rid of the widget. Right now I have the messaging, contacts, Firefox, AquaMail, YouTube, Tapatalk and the Play Store all open in my switcher and I've been switching quickly between all of these apps and playing the video and it hasn't pulled the freezing crap.

It was Weather & Clock Widget Android. I really like that widget so that's a bummer but if it was causing my freezing, it's sayonara. The widget is cool because it's a weather, clock, and calendar widget all in one. I think I'm going to try GoWeather next. The widgets look cool and hopefully I won't experience the same freezing issues.

If the sd card is in working order removing it shouldn't make a difference, but at this point it may be worth a try. Have you been running Toolbox on a daily basis?

Yes, I've been running the toolbox daily.

Well, that's not it either. I guess I'm just going to have to deal with this bull**** on this phone.

I am getting a similar issue except no matter how long I leave it the screen is frozen.

Only way to resolve is to remove battery.

Not impressed with how flimsy this OS can be.

I don't think it the O/S. It appears to me it is some of the apps that are not cleaning up after themselves. Android like most other O/S do a great job within and don't leave junk around. Apps on the other hand are only as good as the developers are who write them.

Any improvement? When you run Toolbox how much junk is being removed?

No improvement. I'm usually getting around 700MB of junk removed each day, mostly processes.

The amount of junk being removed is extremely high, but I'm not sure what apps you are running. I usually get about 350 Mb of junk. Take a look at what apps are taking a high percentage of you device and we'll go from there.

I just want to report that I am no longer having any of these issues. It's been over a week since I've had any freezing on the phone.

I did a factory reset and backed everything up with Helium so that I wouldn't loose application data. I had already done a factory reset and it didn't help so I'm wondering if maybe one of my apps got updated and fixed the issue?

Anyway, I'm super happy because I love this phone and the occasional freezing was the only thing that was pissing me off.

Nice to see you're all back together again. Let's have a drink to celebrate. !!
