Anyone else going to ask to open it at RS?

Have I finally gone nuts waiting or is anyone else going to ask to unbox and handle their Evo at RS Friday morning while they activate it? I seem to remember my last Blackberry purchase at the Sprint store the dude dropped it opening it out of the box...

I think this will likely be the case for most everyone.

However, I intend to unbox at the store in anycase, and then go to work. I even scheduled my appointment @ 7:30 so that I can leave directly after that. =)

man i forgot i have to work i get off at 2:30pm but i will open it there i think if the shack dose not have the body glove i will have to stop by sprint to get on do it stays nice and fresh

I am not buyin at RS, I am buying at BB. But either way I plan to get them to let me open the box and handle my phone first

I've had a few customers ask me to let them do this.

I just tell each and every one that we only need to activate it on the Sprint side. On our end we dont really care if its turned on or not.

But just be forewarned if you dont at least let us turn it on (or let you turn it on) we will be less inclined to believe if anything is defective. As it would be suspicious to us, almost pre-planned.

Bare minimum let us verify the accessories are all there and it has the MicroSD card.

They have to open it. They cannot let you walk out of the store with it unless they activate it on your account. Sprint regulations/rule. The ONLY way you can get one that has not been opened is by ordering it over the phone or through the Sprint website. Then you wait for the box to come..... Then you wait for your other $100 rebate to come back....

From what others have posted, activation simply means doing it in Sprint's computer system. Once the phone is turned on, it will then recognize that it has been activated and will be ready for use. This isn't the old days of cell phones where all the info about the phone had to be manually entered before it would work.
