Anyone else having Issues transferring files via cable?

I keep getting a message that say's something about "transfer fail because the device has stopped running or has been disconnected". No matter what I do, what USB port I use same thing. It's always been a pain in the butt transferring files on Samsung phones for me and so far this has been the worst. I have a Samsung Evo 128GB sd card and have used every port available on my PC whether it's USB 2.0 or 3.0 and same error. Only time it mildly worked was when I kept the screen on but even then most of the transfer was done and failed at the end.

Is there something i'm missing here? It's a huge pain having to pop the sd card out everytime I want to put a new song or file or whatever on the phone.

I just did a transfer of files today from my pc to N7 via cable.... The phone had a drop down menu in the notification bar as to what you wanted to do.... the default choice is charge only..

yep, messed with that. Still not working.
