Anyone else NOT use available 4G?

Anyone know if they are gonna make where you just automatically connect to 4G? It's a slight inconvenience when you are traveling around and need to turn on 4G to see if it's in the area.

Uhhhh...I think we do have that feature. It's called turning 4G on, right? With 4G on, it will connect to 4G if it's available.

i think the poster was referring to the ability to be notified of a 4g network available without having to turn on the 4g radio (thereby draining the battery even without signal)

i agree. i use Sensorly Map, though--and just check the status of what other uses have reported here in Charlotte, NC
(apparently, my usual route/house is in the armpit of no-4g, ha. it sucks)

i leave my 4g off, unless Sensorly shows me that other users have reported the signal available in that area recently.

I almost never use 4g. 3g is plenty for what I do with my Evo, and as others have mentioned the battery drain is not worth it. Here in Las Vegas, NV the signal indoors is not so good on 4g because of the building penetration issues, small antenna, and low-power transmit on the 4g bands. Only if I am doing a batch download of pod casts to I use it to avoid the 3g-5gig cap.

My two cents:
I live in the Philly burbs. I keep it off 95% of the time. At home, I'm on Wifi. At work, the 4G signal is a bit weak so either its slow or drops back to 3G. If I'm going to city or I'm out somewhere (i.e., not home or work), then I'll toggle 4G if I remember to do so.

Since the developer for Setting Profiles thinks there is no way to toggle 4G (even though there are widgets that DO), I don't always remember to turn it on and the 30-60 second wait can be annoying if I just want to do something quick.
