Anyone else notice " red light " in sensor on S5?

The IR emitter-receiver (commonly referred to as an "IR Blaster") is actually on the top/edge of the phone, where the earphone jack is. The only light on the top/face of the phone is the notification LED. This does flash discreetly unless you have it turned of in all notifications.

Has anyone seen the updated app permissions for fb and think it might have something to do with that? I have the same problem and Im just throwing ideas out here, but fb and messenger (the app) have permission to record and use your cameras whenever they like...might be why my battery always seems to be dying so quickly..

The IR- blaster is located at the top of phone next to the mic same corner as the headphone jack. Then there is the LED notification light, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and front facing camera. The faint red light you are seeing is coming from the proximity sensor. If you have gestures on then that light will most likely be on. If you don't have gestures enabled but still see the light then some other app is using the proximity sensor(which is taking up precious battery life). You have to go to the application manager and force close suspected apps one by one to find the culprit. 😀

Fb needs to get their **** together lol. Their both so slow on my s5 and have way too many permissions... Although I think the camera permission is for fb to access the camera when we want to take a picture thru msnger.

Does anyone else notice a red light the first sensor on the right of the ear piece? When i was laying in bed, with the lights off, looking at the phone, I saw a red light and it sometimes flashed. Anyone know what this is?

I'm wondering the same thing.-.

Ya i notice it on one of my old micromax a70 android with froyo 2.2.1 version. A red light which was blinking but i cant see with necked eyes i use to see from another mobile camera it was flashing. This phone having proximity sensor and the same sensor you find on your device. In your device there are 2 proximity sensor or only 1 sensor is there but we see there are two black dots the circuit unit is only one sensor made up. this red light can be seen with necked eyes also, in some reason if you have loaded any app related to proximity sensor for phone locking or some thing else it will activate your proximity sensor and start blinking or flashing. if your not installed than it might be another app which is acting like bug which was inside your system for that u need to flash the mobile firmware. This is how you seen the red light flashing.

Re: Galaxy S5 : Red Light In Sensor

Its normal, it happens on my galaxy s2 (gt-i9100), My Samsung galaxy Core LTE Prime ( Sm-G360F) and my Samsung galaxy S5 (SM-G900F)

Re: Galaxy S5 : Red Light In Sensor

I notice you are in Ultra Power Savings in that image and with 92% battery charge your image shows only 1.7 days left on standby. Mine is at 94% and shows 11.70 days left on standby.

Something is wrong aside from that led light in the upper right. Call your carrier or Samsung tech support.

Thats Just an example from samsung, Its not the real thing its only a picture.

Also on the back, right under the flashlight- ther
e is a red light. I've seen it come on when I was doing a bmp reading thing. Does anyone know if you can turn this on like the flashlight. I can't seem to find anything else about it.

I noticed the same thing while laying in bed, so i found this forum and started messing around with it. It is in fact a sensor to see how close you are. If you go into a dimly lit room or even a dark room to where you can see the light, start running your finger over the dot next to it. When you place your finger over it or even close to it it lights up but if you take your finger away from it completly the light goes out.
