Anyone found a good place to buy spare standard batteries?

I bought one from Amazon that said it was for the Fascinate, but it was not a Samsung branded battery. It appeared identical to the stock battery and it fit both charger and phone but neither the charger nor the phone would accept it. It powered up the phone, but I got a message that the battery was incompatible with the phone. Samsung has pulled this same trick before, but I am in need of another battery. I already bought the charger, spare battery combo but would like 1 more battery just to be safe.
Verizon has them but wants $39.95 for one. Guess I'll wait till some online shops start carrying them.

Get your $39.99 worth and buy the battery/battery-only charger kit from Verizon.
This way you're maximizing your dollar and you'll have a convenient way to charge your extra battery.

Are you talking about this one ?

Amazon.com: High Capacity Lithium-Ion Battery (EB575152VA) for Samsung Galaxy S (Samsung Captivate i897, Vibrant T959, Epic 4G, Fascinate, and GT-i9000): Electronics

If so I been using my with my Epic for problem

Be careful of eBay. I just bought a 2 battery w charger deal...the picture they used was an authentic Samsung battery however what I got is not. The batteries work fine in the Fascinate but they won't charge while in the phone. They have to be recharged via the charger that was included with my purchase. Not a huge big deal but definitely a bit inconvenient. I only paid $9.98 for the 2 batteries and charger so it's not enough for me to be upset. But I was disappointed to learn the batteries won't charge in the device.

I want to get a spare battery in the near future as well. It's a bit upsetting that some of these batteries will not charge in the phone.

Is Samsung that greedy that they put in some software/firmware that prevents the charging of 3rd party batteries?

I'll hold off until I find one that works in the phone. Looking to get one off ebay when they become available.

I only use genuine batteries in my phones.

That being said, the $39.99 battery/charger combo is a decent deal.
If you have, or know someone, with a 25% corporate discount, then you'll get it for $29.99.

Can you actually buy a spare Samsung battery? Someone at Verizon told me with one of my Droids that I have to replace the whole phone and can't just buy a battery, but that didn't sound right...

lol. This isn't the iPhone. Verizon has the OEM batteries listed on their website.

Yes, that's the one. By RND? Maybe it was just a bad battery? Don't know why I would get that message on my phone if that were the case, though. Samsung and Verizon had this same issue with aftermarket batteries for the Omnia. I have been in touch with the manufacturer and they are working on the issue. They said they would send me a free battery once they had it resolved. Great! Can't ask for better than free!

I got 2 batteries off E-Bay and the same thing. You can’t charge them in the phone. It says on battery installed?? They work fine though; you just have to charge them with the charger they come with.

A quick note, I just found that with a generic battery the phone will not sync with PC. Put the OEM bat. in all is good, put the generic in no go.

The Fascinate will only except original OEM batteries.

Verizon software is finding a way so the battery will not charge.
Very annoying....

My Friend uses the RND version and it works on his Captivate. He states it works better then the original.

I hope RND finds away to solve the Verizon issue. Good price I'm keeping me eyes on it.

If you do buy a second battery or just want a dock RND has a really cool cradle dock that I use for the fascinate.

I recently bought a spare oem battery from a local verizon store - along with external charging pod. The store rep first told me they did not have any charging pods. I then asked him "do they even make those things?" He then went to the back and came out with the exact thing that he first said they did not have. And I love it.
The charging pod came with a standard samsung oem battery and a Y-cable that could be connected to the charger so that both the spare battery and the phone could be charged simultaneously. It cost me $ 30 after my corporate discount. I'm not sure what the regular price is but I think it is approx $35. And the box specifically said "samsung fascinate" on it.
