Anyone get Note 8 just to kill time till the real king arrives, LG V30!

I have no idea why anyone would think the V30 is going to be better than the Note 8. There is no evidence that the V30 will have a quad DAC in the US. That floating bar they talk about is just a widget that a bazillion phones have already came with in the past. The previous P-OLED screens LG made had burn-in problems. The V30 battery is only 3000mAH. LG quality is poor. So on and so forth. Maybe it will end up surpassing expectations, but your expectations should be lower with the V30 than the Note 8, not higher.
Agree on modest expectations.

The current rumors are that all V30s have the quad DAC, and we haven't really had a 2017 audiophile device, so the v10 buyers may be due to this device. I don't even feel right comparing the note and v30, two very different approaches to devices.

While I'm pretty sure the V30 will be better in some areas than the Note 8, I personally don't think its a better overall phone than the Note 8. The V30 will have most likely have the better camera and sound(Quad-DAC)....oh and better placement of the fingerprint scanner and that's pretty much it. In terms of performance, display, battery life, functionality with the S-Pen, security, and features such as Samsung Pay, the Note 8 wins.
I'm unconvinced of the V30 camera capabilities until we see how it really performs. They've given lots of buzzwords before.

V30 will have the better display. First phone with an OLED display. Also how does the note 8 win on performance when its gonna have identical specs to the v30 and LG uses a lighter android skin. Battery life? you mean the smaller 3300 MAH battery in a 6.3 inch screen? v30 will have the same 3300mah in a 6 inch screen.
I have zero faith in LG producing a better display than Samsung on what's basically their first try.

Note 8 is a home run for Samsung. Checks all the boxes that most of it's customers want. So did the S8, but note does so even more. The note 8 will almost definitely be in the top 5 or 10 devices of the year. The V30 sounds like it is shaping up to be the best LG phone in a long time, but that doesn't automatically mean it will have the chops to challenge Samsung. They're not even really playing the same game, but insomuch as they are, Samsung is a pro and LG is definitely still minor league. Could this catapult them into the same arena? Only if they don't drop the ball on ANY aspect.

Seems if really stoked for the V30, a person would know their ain't no duel display. I already have the 8+, but would take the Note 8 any day over the V30. JMO.

That said, I like how LG is going to have FM radio working for all devices possible. FM radio works on my 8+ :)

How is it flaming? did i not state i purchased the note 8?
Not flaming. Just presumptuous :)

Seems the V30 is more similar to the S8 rather than Note 8. 6" IMO is too thin for portrait mode with these long devices. Especially with the curved edges mucking legibility up even more. I really dislike curved edges, but is what it is.

hell no does the v30 have a s pen ....hell no an the UI is still a hot mess already ordered my n8

Cant help but be disappointed in the Note 8. Sure it has 6gb instead of 4gb and an S Pen compared to the s8+, but im underwhelmed. At least as an S8+ owner. The smaller battery is also a turn off. I ordered on JOD anyway since its $0 down but im more hyped for the v30. First OLED phone display, great design, quad dac, dual screen. Anyone else killing time?

the LG V10 and the LG V20 were ok, but I sure missed the notification LED on them but I did like the 2nd screen but I am not sure I'd go back to a LG. I would never replace a Samsung with a LG ever again but I might use one on another line. I would have to see it first.....

I think you are right about the camera, it was/is overrated. Nothing to really love, except for the wide angle, which I used a few times.

Yeah I forgot about the camera (LG V20)....I am one of the few that the camera lens cover shattered 2 days after I got it. Cost me $65 to get it fixed and I had to wait 6 months for the part to become available. Some lens covers are interchangable between phones but being that this was the first phone to have the wide angle and the regular camera and the flash all in one unit they had not made the cover readily available.

Yeah, I heard about shatter gate, and I think LG didn't give it any notice whatsoever. I obtained a refurbished V20 last month from warranty because my other had screen retention, and it came without the second cover on the camera lens like my original one from Verizon had on. I haven't had any issue with it, mind you I do have a case on it, so they may have fixed the issue with the glass.

So you mean to tell me that beat 30 will be better than a Galaxy Note that's a joke the note is the king of all like the white king Beyond the Wall it's not even a question everybody is making their screen like Samsung's Infinity screen so think about it everybody is playing catch up 6gb of RAM is going to be the next step until obviously we get 8 and I won't be for another couple of years but just remember this LG doesn't sell it's why they are always constantly trying to copy everybody else's home software and not only that have you taken a look at their interface it's trash Samsung is the king of smartphones

V30 will have the better display. First phone with an OLED display.
AMOLED is still OLED.

And the V30 is FAR from the first phone with an OLED, and not even the first LG phone with an OLED, whether that’s AMOLED or P-OLED.

And honestly, how can we call it the king of phones when it’s not even out yet? We don’t even know how its camera performs with that f/1.6 aperture (seriously, don’t look at f-stops blindly. Understand that they’re affected by both focal length and sensor size as f/1.6 on different sensor sizes and focal lengths will not be the same) and how will that display hold up.

It will be a solid phone, no doubt, but calling it a “king” when we barely know much about it is a fallacy.

Presumptuous post since asserts king, but tech is OLED like the Samsung devices (it IS the first OLED device for LG) and duel display that V30 does not have. Seems the overall premise is off. Must admit if the V30 had a flatter display and wider portrait mode, I would be interested. I REALLY dislike curves due to loss off legibility and easier to crack the display.

Note 8 is definitely not the "king" of phones. It's merely the newest major thing to be announced. The V30 probably won't wear a crown either, unless it's the crown if being LGs best device ever, and we can't know if it is or not until it is released.

The V30 isn't the first phone with an OLED display by LG.

The V30 is not the first. The OG G Flex had a P-OLED display.

There may be another LG phone with an OLED before.
