Anyone get the OTA for the MAXX? Quiet around here!

I looked for it manually on the phone and it was there and downloaded it. It downloaded and installed smoothly so far.

Downloaded and installed about an hour ago. I couldn't get rooted, but then again I couldn't get rooted before the update either ;)

Hoppy

Checked again this morning and it finally found one... it's about 25% downloaded right now.

Got it loaded this morning.

Does anyone know what exactly they modified to improve battery life? Are we talking like a 5% improvement or a 15% improvement or even better?

Probably too early to tell. I would say give it a few charge cycles to see.

I found that using rootkeeper does keep root. It was confirmed through some other searches I found and on here. Well at the RAZR sub-forum.

Got the update this morning on the Maxx.

Quick observations:

Settings menu updated with colored icons (Looks much better)
New text & email icons
Slingbox & MOG music apps (download through Vcast).
Landscape mode in the app drawer (not sure if this is new, never tried before)

Not sure on the low 4g signal perfomance increase as I am running WiFi right now. Hopefully it's better as this is my only issue with the phone.

Got update this morning first thing. Unit seemed faster so ran Quadrant and score improved over 300 points to 2964. Then ran AnTuTu with a improvement of 1000 to 6095 in a 3G area. Battery was fully charged just after the upgrade finished so will have to wait on battery length report until later today.

I got prompt for the update but I'm not going to upgrade until its been confirmed that it can be rooted.

if you're on rooted 2.3.5 put voodoo ota rootkeeper on your phone, run it, then upgrade, and run voodoo to restore root

I just took a chance and updated. Like all updates, first startup was slow and laggy. Did a reset with the power button and volume down button then booted it back up. Ran much better. I used Voodoo rootkeeper to restore root. Had some issues with titanium backup but other apps that required root worked fine. After a reboot, fired up Ti backup and it updated SU binary files and it was good to go. I did another reboot and EVERYTHING messed up. Every app had force close issue. Did a hard reboot and it booted back up fine.
Seems a bit snappier. Quadrant reported around the 2600-2700 score range. Before it was around 2500-2600. Not too much of a jump in terms of scores but overall feeling and usage of the phone seems snappier.

For those with root and hacked Mobile Hotspot for free wifi tethering: the OTA description mentioned "fixing" Mobile Hotspot.

I'd like to know if the update actually kills the exploit and if you can still use the hacked Mobile Hotspot app for free wifi tethering.
