Anyone getting a watch to go with their Note 8

are watches really worth it I always wanted to get one but never really felt like I need it like how are Samsung watches compared to other smart watches like the Moto 360 and like that one zte watch

From my experience between Apple Watch (Ser 1) & S3 Gear Frontier, I would never want a watch that doesn't have any cellular connectivity. When I had the Apple watch with my iphone, my notification always get delayed, the glass behind the watch always makes my wrist itch, and it just doesn't work well. For the Note 8 & Gear S3, once the phone pops a notification, a couple second later, the watch would pop up too. That's what I need.

I like to have a watch, just to see real-live notification, in case I'm not able to have access to my phone nor, my computer doesn't show any of my work email notification. Its not really a "need" but its more of a "want" Lol. Also, with the cellular, you don't need to have your phone around you, yet you will receive calls, text & I think email notfications!

Does it drain your battery alot ?

The watch probably last me 2 days before it drains out. From the 10am in morning at 100%, until 12AM... my watch still has about 46%... just moderate use... a couple calls, notification all day... cellular & bluetooth connectivity.

I looked at several and after seeing the cost vs benefits it was not worth it to me. If my phone is always with me no need for the watch.
I can surreptitiously glance at my watch as I teach. Can't do the same with the phone. That's why I have the S2.

Any women on here who has the Frontier. I want one I'm just afraid of the bulkiness.
That watch is way too bulky for me, again, that's why I have the S2. 2017-09-29 22.58.55.jpgCan't get it to upload right side up.

I just ordered an Asus Zenwatch 3. I have the Zenwatch 2 but the 3 looks better.
For me, Android wear's better app integration with Android is more important than the only advantage I see in the Samsung watches, which is using the watch for Samsung Pay.

I too am coming from the original Apple Watch (pre Series 1). I actually like the Gear S3 a lot better in many ways. The only things that are negatives are way fewer apps, and the lack of complications on faces. These two are kind of related since apps can feed complications. That said, after the first few months of having the Apple Watch and "playing", I would estimate that 90% of my watch usage was the native apps. The things that were 3rd party were as much novelty as anything else, so not a huge loss .... really.

On the plus side though, there is a whole list of things I like better on the Gear S3, not the least of which is the rotating dial and UI... find it so much better, particularly when in the gym and my hands are sweaty. And the thousands of faces are really nice too... not sure why Apple stubbornly refuses to open up faces.

Notifications have just flowed in for me... so not had any issues there.
There are tons of watch faces in the Gear app store with all kinds of complications. It just depends on when you want. This is the current watch face I'm using and it allows me to tap on a complication and opens the corresponding app to give more detailed info. A lot people that see my S3 Classic don't know it's a smart watch because I like to use faces that look like the real watches until I tap a complication or when the face disappears. I also keep the AOD enabled and it still lasts me approximately 2 days. A few of my bosses love their expensive designer/diver watches. When they saw mine, they thought I had the real thing until I showed them what it's capable of doing. They were amazed how realistic the faces were because they couldn't tell it was just a screen. I showed them a few watch faces that can replicate what they had and then some and I made it a point they are stuck with what they had when I could pretty much change my watch everyday depending on how im feeling, what I'm wearing or doing. They were very envious and are now considering getting one and gave me the task of showing them how to us them when they get one.

What's the name of the watch face

I currently have a Fitbit Blaze but was thinking of switching to a gear S3 or S3 frontier. I guess I'm actually not sure yet what the difference is between the two.

Does anyone use the gear S3 with the Fitbit app? I'm always doing the weekly Fitbit challenges with several friends, some have apple watches.

The idea of being able to track my fun, listen to music, all while leaving my phone at home definitely appeals to me. Can this be done with the gear fit 2 or gear fit 2pro?

As you can probably tell I haven't really looked into anything at all about these yet. Ha. My last Samsung smart watch was the OG Galaxy gear. I'm guessing we've come a long way since then...
Researching this a little more and I really think the gear sport is going to be the best match for what I'm looking for. Now if only I could get my hands on one....

In this day and age with technology and the way it advances I don't know how anyone could commit to a product for a two year contract ^^^

The watches and tablets don't go out of style as fast. Best Buy still sells the Tab S2 for almost full price still.

I originally went for the Frontier but I ended up returning it for the Classic because it was way too masculine for my taste. I only used it for maybe 3 days and I absolutely HATED it. But, that's just me. The black just didn't work for me. IMO, the classic offered more versatility. I could dress it up or down by changing the band easier than the black. And I don't mean literally easier, because obviously they both offer the ability to change bands, but it was more esthetically pleasing and just blended better with a wide variety of bands. But again, it's a matter of preference. The black just looked clunky and too sporty no matter what band I chose. Here's a YouTube video that sealed the deal for me... https://youtu.be/n27D0cZQ-IY

I went to Verizon today and found out that the only difference between the 2 is one is mite bulkier than the other. I thunk I'm going to roll the dice on the Classic.

Thanks for finding it and sharing. I’d even sent a PM to the person who posted the original image. Alas, no response...
Sorry about not responding. I saw that someone supplied the link so I felt there was not reason to provide it to you again via message.

Stopped by Best Buy today so I could actually see them in person. I like the Frontier look and features but it's awfully large and worse, thick. And I've got large wrists. Just not sure it's worth the cash. While it would be neat to have the texting and calling features as well as access to some thing, I'm not sure it's worth the price and size just yet. At this point I'm going to go into wait-and-see mode. See what the S4 models look like and how much they cost. I'm sure over time they'll get smaller.
