Anyone getting a watch to go with their Note 8

I personally don't understand why they made both S3's so thick. I had the S2 Platinum for a short while with LTE and it wasn't this thick. But so far I love it. After getting my Note 8 my S2 wasn't working for me I wanted something more. I do appreciate the bigger watch face though, makes it easier to put in my password.

Stopped by Best Buy today so I could actually see them in person. I like the Frontier look and features but it's awfully large and worse, thick. And I've got large wrists. Just not sure it's worth the cash. While it would be neat to have the texting and calling features as well as access to some thing, I'm not sure it's worth the price and size just yet. At this point I'm going to go into wait-and-see mode. See what the S4 models look like and how much they cost. I'm sure over time they'll get smaller.
When do they usually release the best version of the great watch, will it be around the same time as the S9

the frontier is a great watch and it's not overwhelmingly big in my eyes the best smart watch for android phones

Wow, Gboard swipe failed me that time. When do they usually release the next gen of the gear watches. Is it around the same time as the S9
It'll likely be next fall for the update to the Gear S3. Gear Sport is gonna be released this month. Won't be an update for a while.

I actually use Samsung Pay, never used Apple pay on neither of my Apple watches. //uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171014/d3cb8deae77f1b4ce65d174d7958bf51.jpg

Do you mind sharing the name of that watch face? I've bought several from the Galaxy store. I like that layout.

BTW, to answer the original question. I bought the frontier 5 months ago after debating for weeks. IMO the gear S3 (classic/frontier) is one of the best pieces of tech I've purchased. Paired it with different brand phones and now w the Note 8. Battery life, style, durability, custom watch face development, is phenomenal. Well worth the $$ and they go on sale at Best Buy and Amazon for $300ish almost every couple of weeks. I also own two Android Wear watches and there is no contest for round the same money.
Last...the Sam S health app is fantastic for tracking and nutrition. Very detailed and customizable. Of course it's perfect w the gear line. You can also integrate third-party apps as well like MyFitnessPal, etc.

It's called Pluto from the Facer app. I really enjoy the watch faces which was very limiting on my apple watch. So far I'm really happy with my purchase. I'm such a gadget girl, I'm ashamed of how many watches I've bought in the past 6 months. With my apple watch, I felt the need to also wear a fitbit, which is crazy after spending so much money on a smart watch. My gear s3 i don't feel that same need. I'm loving the battery life and love how I can sleep with it on for my sleep tracking. But, I'm finding out that I may not even need to do that because Samsung is so awesome the watch recognized the time I took it off as a possible bedtime and my phone recognized the time I picked up my phone as my wake time. Between the 2 devices it recognized my sleep time, Samsung is really winning in my book. At this point, ill always have a MacBook and iPad for FaceTime for my boring (lol) family and friends, but Samsung for my phone and watch. I may even still pick me up a galaxy tablet for myself if there are some good deals around black Friday.

Sorry for the long post, but I'm passionate about my gadgets.

I bought the Apple watch when I owned the 7+. When I switched back to Android I was disappointed that pretty much all Android watches are huge. I still have an old gear S2 and it will have to do until the Android watch manufacturers decide to create a watch that feels something like a real watch.

so the gear classic s3 is good for you

I've pretty much decided that I'm going to get the gear Sport.
But then you lose having its own cell service and No Samsung Pay iirc right?

I originally purchased my Frontier last year when I had to return my Note 7 and did not want to get rid of Samsung pay I really enjoyed it the year Ive had it.

Yeah I think I'm going to do that too. I have Gear S2 now. I think the S3 are too bulky for me. The Gear Sports seems like a nice upgrade.
