Has anyone gotten their LG in water, like fully submersed? It's pool season but I'm kinda scared to.

I believe some have if you read through threads. Honestly it's not something I would do.... If I had a phone with water resistance I would only want it for exposure to the elements and accidental dunks.

Agreed. The only time I ever use my phone "against nature" is in light rain - and that's without having any kind of water resistance.

Had mine in my daily Spigen case above water in the pool taking a few shots. no adverse effects.

Didn't submerge it though. Maybe I'll get crazy and try it after I win this Powerball.

Submerged mine yesterday. Mainly to test, no pics or anything.

If a phone has an IP rating I at least slightly test it when I first get it so I can swap it if it is a dud. learned this the hard way once when a phone I had, had bad seals and didn't last a partial submersion.

Same here. I view it as an insurance policy. I used to coach soccer, and we played in all weather conditions, and that's when I decided waterproofing (or at least water resistance) was an essential smartphone feature. I don't know that I'll ever have another daily driver without it.

Used mine for a while today in my pool. The wide angle camera underwater is awesome. The screen handles water amazingly. No issues during or after. Amazing phone so far. Really liking it for the last 2 weeks I have had it. Got a few photos of me and my brother underwater. It was used to a max depth of 2 feet for maybe a minute max before surfaced and then back in. Basically standard hold breath and go under cycles.

I washed mine under the sink when it had some residue on it after I took the IMEI sticker off.

How can you swap it if water damage is not covered under warranty?

I have never had an issue with that. I just tell them I never went past the IP68 rating and the phone did not perform as advertised. Always am respectful and nice, and have never had an issue. If I was told no I might try one more time with a higher up or another employee, if it is still a no, I consider it a risk I was willing to take.

Since that post mine and my wife's G6 have been in the pool with us taking lots of underwater pics, sat in the hot sun for hours etc. And have had no issues besides a wet charge port. Just wireless charge until I can use a plug charge. No issues.

The 2 times I have had water damage from one of my "tests" I legitimately told them exactly what happened. How much water it was in and for how long. Never once had an issue whether I was dealing directly with manufacturer or carrier(once for each)

Just don't try that with Samsung. When my S7 Active failed after putting it in a cup of water they essentially told me tough and to pay the $270 to get it fixed. A week later the news stories broke about defective seals and they had to warranty the phone. Had that not happened I was screwed. At&t wouldnt help at all until they got the memo from Samsung and even then they tried to deny me service.

Water is a trigger word for most electronic companies. You say water, they say no.

You're absolutely right. Samsung will not honor water damage. This is one of the main reasons I've stayed away from them ever since. I have insurance on the phone but I'm still being a chicken :)

I didn't know that this was something Samsung did. I've never owned a Samsung product before, but I'll keep this in mind for my Mom, as she has an S6 Edge. Thanks!!
