Anyone gotten USB hosting through an OTG cable working?

I have an OTG cable that I have used with my last 2 tablets over the past few years, including the 2012 N7, and it isn't working with this tablet. There is a blue LED on the cable itself and it turns on when it is powered and that turns on just fine, but using a USB mouse or using the USB thumb drive doesn't work.

I am thinking that maybe the cable is using a different kind of standard or something, because I have connected to my computer via USB so I know the port is fine. If you have it working, please post the OTG cable you are using.
